I’m a little tired. It was bound to happen but I’m still going at it, just not as strong as before. One of the things that I’ve realized as I was writing is that it helps a lot to go back to certain parts or scenes and add in details that you might have missed earlier. Why? Because every little bit counts!
So lets say that you missed a big chuck of a fight scene (because you skipped it for whatever reason) and you’re having a writer’s block at the moment. Instead of wallowing in your misery about the writer’s block go back to the scene and add it on. If you still have a writer’s block or not in the mood to work on whatever scenes you skipped then add in flashblacks. If not that, what about adding in some filler scenes? A dream sequence? Sexual moments with the characters?
Remember the goal is to write as much as you can and get 50,000 words at the end of the month. It doesn’t matter if the novel is completed or uncompleted or that it’s not the best quality. What matter is the quantity. That is the goal of the NaNoWriMo challenge, to get you to write your novel and focus on getting it done. Or at least force/push you to stop being lazy and just start on it already because a novel doesn’t write it’s own story out.
In the end even if the novel is filled with mistakes, unnecessary scenes or whatnot it doesn’t matter because once NaNoWriMo ends you can always go back to edit and fix it all. Also, try your very best to ignore that urge to edit and fix every mistake you see as you type. Trust me, I have a difficult time trying to curve that habit and it’s a constant battle. lol
