I hate mosquitoes and I wouldn’t be surprise if they’re the most hated insect on the planet. They’re annoying, disease-carrying pests that make a living by sucking the blood out of just about anything alive. Mosquitoes are deadly because they can carry any number of diseases, including malaria, dengue fever, yellow fever, and encephalitis. They can also carry heartworm, which can be lethal to dogs.
I try to avoid them as much as possible and that’s mostly because I stay indoors whenever I can. I haven’t had a problem with them in my summer time for a long time. But lately they’ve been pestering me more than normally and that’s because I’ve been spending some time in the backyard. I help with the garden once in a while and that’s when they attack me with hunger.
What many people don’t know about these chupacabras related pests is that only the female mosquitoes bite. They do so because they need the protein for their eggs, and must drink blood in order to reproduce. Otherwise, they would be happy to stick with flowers for the nectar. The males don’t bear the burden of producing so they’ll avoid people when they can and go after flowers instead.
