Lately, I’ve notice that my room is lacking personality, style and some sophistication. Before I use to have a small room and it was pretty cramp. Lots of stuff were stacked up, boxes were under the bed, pretty much every available space was used to store and hide stuff. There just wasn’t any space for my cloths which I had to keep in my parents’ room and that was annoying. When my sister moved out I saw an opportunely to have a better room, one with a closet and a lot of space.
Even though I’ve move into the bigger room a long while ago I just don’t like how it looks. I feel like it’s kind of empty still and needs something to give it more life, maybe a bookshelf or a desk. I think a desk would be better because I can someday put a small TV on it and/or store stuff in it.
Anyway, I don’t know why it’s taken me this long to do something about it. I don’t have that much money to go off buying furniture or decorations so I did some research and I found the next best thing. That’s to be creative. To use what you got and make something out of it, or in some cases get inexpensive things to put together.
I first looked around my room and look for areas that needed improvement. I notice that my beauty/bath & body items have grown to a point where I need some more space and to find a way to organized them better. What’s taking up most of the space is a box storing my nail polishes. I find it unnecessary because I could be using that box for other stuff and the space could be used for the items.
I decided to look for DIY projects that dealt with nail polishes. I found a couple of tutorials in how to create a nail polish rack. Originally I was going to go with the cardboard version but I don’t have that many nail polishes so I instead I’m going with another version. It’s using a spice rack to create a nail polish rack. If my collection grows I will upgrade to the cardboard one which is good for those that have 100 or more nail polishes. Besides, I think it’ll be a good idea if my nail polishes are in display, it will help encourage me to use them more then I do now.
Another DIY project I will be doing is very simple. It’s for my makeup brushes and what I’m lacking is a makeup brush holder. All I need is a container and some beads or rocks, or maybe even glass marbles because it’s to fill in the container. That way I just stick in my brushes in it. I’ll have easy access to them and they’ll be easy to find. I don’t have to go hunting for them when they’re in a bag.
Lastly, I’ll be making a magnetic board for my room. I need something to keep all my notes, photos, artwork and whatnot in one place. Best way to do that is create a magnet board. Having everything in display will make it easy to find what I need. If it doesn’t work well in my room then I could certainly make use of it in my desk/office area. I have so many post-it notes that I’ve stopped trying to keep track what those notes are for. Or if it does go well in my room then I’ll make another one for my desk.
So far, these are the DIY projects that I’ll be working on. I don’t know how long they’ll take for me to complete but I’ll defiantly take a picture of the final products when I’m done. I’ll also share the tutorials for them for those that want my version of the DIY projects. Right now, I haven’t started on them just yet. I’m planning to go shopping tomorrow at Dollar Tree to get the materials for them. When I’m done with them I’ll probably look for more DIY projects and/or maybe come up with a few myself.
