Just in case, this is a spoiler for anyone who has yet to watch season 8, episode 1 of Supernatural called “We Need To Talk About Kevin”.
Who was that figure watching the Texas house as Sam left Amelia and the dog?
All we saw was that they were wearing a high-collar coat and appeared to be male. Some people say it was Benny but that doesn’t make sense. After all, he was in Dean’s arm and he had to be resurrected first. Also, I doubt Dean would share with him about his life, about Sam. If it is him, what does he gain by watching Sam? How did he even know where to find him in the first place (after all he died fifty years ago and he will need some time to adjust to the world because of it advances in technology, slang and whatnot)?
Others say it was Castiel. It could be him but it doesn’t seem like it. If it is him, what was he doing watching Sam? How did he get out and what happen to him?
Most say that it was Dean, which is possible. They reason that he wanted to see what Sam had been up to (making sure that he wasn’t doing anything stupid such as working for demons or something). That Dean tracked Sam down to Texas, watched him, and followed him when he left. Once Sam crossed the state line into Montana, it would have been obvious that Rufus’s cabin was his destination, so it would have been child’s play for Dean to beat him there and be waiting to ambush him for testing when Sam opened the door.
Lastly, I think it was Crowley (or maybe one of his lackeys). It makes sense that Crowley would keep tabs on Sam, hoping he’ll be a lead to where Kevin went. Kevin is his number one priority because he knows the tablet is about demons and the only person who can read it is the boy. So that was who I thought was standing there and for why.
As for some other people they believe it’s also Crowley but he’s doing it for another reason. That Sam and him establish a deal in which Sam will be left alone as long as he stops being a hunter. So Crowley standing outside is just his way of keeping track of Sam, making sure he’s not breaking his word or up to something. It makes sense as to why people think that and why Sam hasn’t been attacked or bother by monsters and just stopped being a hunter.
