I got a reply on my post -- DmC, Dante's Inferno and Vergil. If I even played DmC or if I’m just going by what I read or saw. And if I knew that the pregnant women was actually a pregnant demon.
I check out the demo and I wasn’t impressed (which is why I’m not going to get it or touch it again). And I am playing the game by watching it through someone else. I haven’t gotten to that part of Vergil shooting the female just yet but I have seen the videos. Why does his actions have to be acceptable because the pregnant women is a demon? Don’t you think this scene in the game would be tramazing to a pregnant female? To see a video game character kill the female simply because they and their baby is a threat? That makes the character no better than the villain if they are willing to go to such lengths.
But DmC doesn’t do a good job in explaining the characters actions. Which is shameful of them since the whole purpose of the reboot was to be better then the original, especially when it comes to the story (even the creator said that if he did his job right that people would be seeing ”a story of Dante that breaks the myth that all videogame stories are trite and will never stand up to the best that theatre and film have to offer”).
The scene is suppose to be incredibly messed up. And people are suppose to register that it’s messed up and question Vergil (and Dante for using what happen as a taunt). They are orphans and one would think that doing such an action would make them hesitant. Heck, why didn’t they try to find another way to take care of Lilith and her baby without having to do that? Why didn’t Dante stop Vergil and convince him that there has to be another way?
They didn’t because Ninja Theory didn’t do an amazing job of the story and characterization like they said they would. At least with the original series it has good characterization. It was easy to understand the characters, their motives and why they are the way they are (especially in DMC3).
