Prompt 8 -- This Past Summer I Didn't... |

When telling the stories of your life, there’s a lot of freedom in writing about what you haven’t done!
Use the starting phrase:
This past summer...I didn't run into any of my friends. Most of them were spending the summer on holiday with their family, but I expected to run into a few of them at some. It never happened. It was strange that I haven't since we all live within the same circle, we all have the same circle of friends, we all went to the same school, go to the same places. Honesty, the wizardry world isn't that huge. You can't wonder London without being surrounded by muggles. It's the same concept, only you can't go to Diagon Alley or Hogsmeade without running into people that know you by name -- or in some people's cases their family reputation.
It's a pretty small world when you think about. Sure, I don't know everyone in it, but if you try hard enough I'm pretty sure you can find everyone is connected to each other in some way. Pure blood families all seem to be related and at this point, I don't even what to know how long they'll last until they start marrying their first cousins or siblings. Yuck!
I'm a halfblood. I come from a pureblood family but we don't care about blood "impurities" like some of the others. It's no wonder they used to call my family blood traitors. But so what! I got plenty of friends and family that are muggles, halfbloods, muggleborn and whatever magical species they may come from. All that matters is that we treat each other as beings. We all bleed, we all feel...we're not all that different from each other.
It just gets me so mad that there is still some stubborn folks that can't let it go. This is a new, better world now. It still has some ways to go to improve, but it's a whole lot better then what it was like before the war. Speaking of, I somehow got rope into working on a documentary about the war. Or was it on a book that document it? I was told that I'm not going to be working on it alone, but I don't know how I fit into it. I'm a professional photographer, not a writer or journalist.
They didn't give me much details on it. I suppose they will if I agree to take the job. I was minding my own business when I was contacted at work by owl. The bloke told me that he and a few of his buddies decided that it was time for the world to know everything. That they were ready to let it go and that the world needed to hear the real truth. Not something that Rita Skeeter cumulate with her bias and selfish interest.
I had not accepted the job yet, but after thinking about it for a while it had me quite curious. It was only a few hours ago that I sent an owl back that I was met with a quick response back. I apparently will get to meet Harry Potter and his friends, but first they explained why they choose me to be one the few to work on their project.
They explained how they been looking for certain people who were involve in the war, even indirectly. That they wanted this book to show everyone's perspective in the war -- of those that were directly involve in the war, to those that were on the run, to those that were muggleborn, to those that were werewolves, to those that had no choice but to follow, and so on. They wanted everyone to have a better understanding of the war. To know why it happen, what was going on during it and how people were fighting back.
They picked me because I was fighting the war in my own way. I go everywhere with my camera -- be it muggle version or not. I couldn't sit and accept what was happening, what they were doing. I had to do something to show people that the Death Eaters weren't their friends. That they were pushing everyone around like cattles, but at the same time I wanted to show people that there was hope.
So I photograph everything with my camera -- the destruction, the things they did (of course I protected the innocent people's identities while I did it -- I certainly didn't want them to be targeted for my photo) and the things that people were doing to fight back. I spread my photos in public places...billboards, lampposts, trees, underneath doors, etc. I travel around, never staying in one place for too long in order to avoid being tracked down.
It was tough, there were many close calls because sometimes I had to be up close and personal to capture many of the photos. It was also tricky trying to spread the photos around without attracting attention from Death Eaters, Dementors and other dark creatures. You would think it would be easily to sneak photos in the quiet night streets, but your wrong, there were to many dark things patrolling them.
Anyway, they wanted me to be apart of the book so that I could include those very photos. This is certainly something that I wanted to write home to. It's been a while and I sure my family was getting tired of the same boring news that I always tell them. Of course, I can't tell them anything just yet. There's still a lot that needs to be done before the project can be known for the public. In the mean time, I need to organize everything and write captions for each photos.
