O', say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave o'er the land of the free, and the home of the brave?
Not to hear some of the ExD patrons b***h, it doesn't. And to a point, I agree. But to a point, I also disagree.
Land of the Free
America is becoming more and more restrictive and paranoid as the years go by... Patriot Act, etc.
But what the hell are we complaining for? Women are allowed to have jobs, children are allowed to speak when they have something to say, and we at least pretend to be tolerant of other religions! So quitcherbitchin.
Home of the Brave
Back in the Vietnam War, protestors would bomb weapons storage. There would be mass riots, beatings, etc. Nowadays, what do protestors do? They b***h and whine and wave posterboard on the end of sticks. Ooh, I'm scared. Throw some goddamn rocks, people!
On the other hand, we've still got a ******** Army, Navy, National Guard. It takes courage to join, to fight for your country, to risk dying for your country. You are being sent away, for gods-know-how-long, saints-know-with-what or whom, to a country you've barely even heard of before now, where you are The Enemy, fighting to liberate people you don't know who will never know your name.
edit: In response to FeatherFly!'s comment: I said protesters, not pacifists xd But lack of education is a factor in joining the Army. Literally. There are soldiers who joined the Army just for the tuition refunds, and boy do they catch s**t if they ever say so in an interview.
