This is probably one of the best things I'll learn in Biology this year.
It's nice to have a science teacher who dislikes the fact that schools are forcing the Theory of Evolution down their students' throats, as much as I do.
Because actually, according to the Scientific Method, which is also an important part of all science classes...
Well... check this out.
- Evolution -
Even though it is mandated by the state, and taught as "Fact", it is not a matter of science. It has to fall in the category of speculation, philosphy, or just plain dumb ideas.
It is not science! It cannot be proven or disproven.
Unless there is a reproducable experiment with controls, it falls outside the realm of science all together.
Experiments are what seperate science from non-science.
It is impossible to set up such an experiment to see whether the world evolved or not. We can't go out and get a world that is evolved, and a world that isn't... and experiment on them repeatedly to prove or disprove this "theory".
And because a reproducable experiment cannot be done, evolution cannot move on to the next step in the Scientific Method.
Which is... theory.
Because without an experiment, it cannot be anything more than a hypothesis.
Therefore, evolution cannot even be called a theory. Much less a fact! It is merely hypothesis. An opinion or an educated guess.
And because no experiment can prove it right or wrong, it falls under the non-science category... and shouldn't be forced down peoples' throats as being scientific fact. Because it is not scientific fact.
A magician may make an elephant dissapear. That doesn't mean it did.
Just because people say evolution is fact, and just because they want it to be fact... doesn't mean it is.

The same thing applies to Creation. The belief that God created the Earth.
[ which is my belief, mind you ]
There is no scientific experiment that can prove or disprove Creation. So it too falls outside the realm of science.
Now, can it be historically proven? Yes it can. With the right evidence.
This is not an entry to strike down either Creation or Evolution. We're all free to believe in what we want to believe in. This is an entry to rant about the fact that the schools find it necessary to force Evolution on their students as being fact! And not giving anyone else say in the matter.
It's not scientific fact. And therefore should'nt be taught as being such.

- Just a Little Side Note -
This is why my favorite science teacher is leaving our school. The school stuck him into Biology, and still wants him to teach evolution. But he refuses to do so.
Can I say that I'm proud of him for sticking up for his beliefs like he does? Because I am. Even if it means he'll be retiring soon. That part makes me sad. I've had him for science all three years I've been in highschool.
And it's because of him that I'm in Biology now, instead of the dreaded Integrated Science II. And that I got into, and survived Physics last year.
Plus he's one of the only science teachers I know that shares the same dislike for the Theory of Evolution that I do. Most other teachers would just go ahead and make us learn it.
