So... wow. It's September 11th, 2006. Hard to believe that the 9/11 terrorist attack happened 5 years ago. It doesn't seem at all like it's been that long. I still remember riding the bus to school that day, hearing it on the radio but thinking that it was just another dumb plane wreck. Until I got to school and all we did was watch it on the television.
And I still remember my friend Meri and I freaking out because a friend of ours left on a flight to Hawaii early that morning. Though we calmed down quite a lot when we found out none of the planes were the one she was on.
I remember all of this like it happened yesterday. So wow... five years? No wai!!

So... wow.
Anyway, it was the usual thing at school. There was a short speech about it on the morning announcements, a discussion on the topic in US History class, and a get-together at the flag pole at lunch for those who wanted to come.
And a few people mocking and laughing about it in history. Though what can one expect from the class idiots. They laugh about everything in that class. I mean, I'm not saying they have to give a damn, but geez, some people do. Have a little respect, huh?

And then there's constant bickering over whether we should remember 9/11, or forget it and move on with life.

The most commonly used reason I've heard so far would have to be this one.
Quote: do we have a moment for Pearl Harbor anymore? No. Do we have a moment for the Holocaust? No. People, it was a tragedy. And so were many other things.
I will say this is a good point. We don't make a big deal about things like Pearl Harbor or the Holocaust anymore, so much anymore. But you also have to think about the times these happened, and the time 9/11 happened. The terrorist attacks of 9/11 are much more recent than World War II, and so forth. I'm sure incidents like Pearl Harbor and the Holocaust had their yearly memorials for a while after they happened as well. And I know some people still take time to honor them today.
September 11th, I'm sure, will be the same. For a few years we'll continue to make a big deal out of it. But after a while, it will be a part of history that is no longer a huge deal to many of us, but is still honored in it's own way.
Quote: The people all died in vain, because the government made 9/11 in order to start a stupid war for no reason so Bush could stay as president longer.
As for the many rants about how Bush and the US Government started it... I'd rather not go into that, really. It's a stupid crackpot theory if you ask me.
I'm stuck in the middle as far as this debate goes. Sure, no one likes to be reminded constantly about tragic things that happened in the past. But at the same time, we can't just throw it off the the side and forget about it either. Not entirely anyway.

As for any words about the incident itself... well, I can never think of anything to say. Dammit.
But I have a neat-o picture that I found, so I'll go with that instead.
