Atreyu wiynessed the death of her brother, sister and parents before she herself was killed.
Otherwise she may not have turned onto a hollow.
She was killed at age 17, and broke into the human world after her death as a human,
having spent 35 years in Hueco Mundo as a hollow.
She was in agony, searching for a way to get back to the earth and destroy her murderer.
Finally she was able to find a rift, and returned to earth to exact revenge.
She was a menos grandes and no one could stop her.
Atreyu was on a murderous rampage, searching for her killer.
She found the man and the emotional trauma cracked her mask in half, bringing back many memories.
Afterwards, reeling from the shock she stumbled upon an 12 year old boy named Chad.
She attacked him, but he managed to crack her mask, from the neck up, off.
She retreated to a far away place, and found shelter in Barcelona Italy.
Slowly, over the course of the next 5 years, her form changed, and realizing this,
she decided to seal the remainder of her powers. She heard the sound of beautiful music,
and it was not until afterwards that she realized she had been hiding near the Sagrada Familia Church.
The beautiful music healed her soul.
Finally she achieved full human form and her zanpakutÅ was fully formed.
It had taken the appearance of a beautiful ebony violin.
It's name is Syntagma.
