Everyone has a dream they wish to accomplish in life. Unfortunately, some hopes cannot be fulfilled; they can only stay as an illusion in an individual’s mind. Some dream of world peace and others dream of world domination. It all depends on a person’s wish.
***
As it turned out, the World’s End, in fact, did not happen nor did the predicted World War III. All had remained the same, well at least in my world. Communication had been rather difficult since then due to the incident in 2012. Apparently rather than the World's End, there was a World's Miscommunication. Everyone had gotten ‘amnesia’, as the scientists call it, at the same time and collapsed. There are theories to how it happened. Christians had believed the cause had been God. Scientists believe it was all a dream? It did not make sense to anyone. However; all went chaotic as the humanity had risen once again. This time, everyone had their own perspective of reality. Literally. Each individual saw the world differently. That is what made communication rather hard. The only thing that can be seen the same by everyone was the internet. The internet is where schools were now held. As well as jobs and just plain chatting. Scientists cannot figure anything out. Even after a year.
Technology was no different than before though. Just more revolutionized now. There are still homeless people, but they cannot be seen by anyone other than me. Each person sees what they want to see. Nothing was solved or gained after 2012. Everyone just kept their sanity. I have read that there are people who claim to see life as it really is. In truth, only one person can see the reality before them, and that would be me. The world is actually not so great. America is still in debt, the Iraq war was won by America. The economical depression is still in act, though it is not as bad as before and there are many who became blind. Simply meaning they do not have any perspective in life. They appear to look as still as stone. The organisms too, have become ‘invisible’ due to the fact that they do not have souls. The average man can only seek souls in his imagination. Two people, even if at the same coordinates of the Earth, are not able to see each other. Just those they create in their imagination. Even though this makes the world is less dangerous, everyone is aware to be careful what they wish for. For example, certain people who dreamed of having a troubled life in order to gain pity, had died because during their celestial nightmare, they had wished to be dead. Each choice was to be chosen carefully. Humans, though, were not good at that. We are reckless species which is why millions of people die each day.
Soon enough, all of us will be gone. Our only hopes are the scientists now. Only I know this. All I can do now is wait for that day to come. No one will listen to me. I am like a ghost. No one can hear me. So I wait as the clock strikes quarter to end. Each second is like an eternity. I have to live my life like people have in the past while everyone gets to have the time of their lives. The only happiness I can gain is watching over others as they enjoy their perspective. Their story being written as mine stays blank. I wish to fill the pages, but it is not possible. So life goes on. No time, no goals, no emotion. I sat down on my chair and logged onto my computer. As it loaded, I pulled my short, brown hair back into a ponytail. Finally, I had logged onto my Woohoo account and checked for mail. Someone had sent me a message titled “What’s it like?”. I opened it quickly and as I read the text, my jaw flew open.
Ever,
I do not see the way you do, but I believe that your perspective in life is, in fact, the real one. You sound so reality struck. Even desperate to tell this news to everyone. I wish to know what I should do next. My world consists of me being a popular and rich fourteen year old. It confuses me so much. There is nothing to do but talk to people on the internet. I feel like there is more to life, you know? I hope I am not an annoyance, but may I ask for more information on the real world?
“Interesting.” I spoke aloud. This girl sounded determined to know, so I typed away.
Hello,
Thank you for believing me, I promise to tell you everything I can. For starters, there are many bad things in life. You can create good things to though. The bad things consist of death, serial killers, violence, emotional pain, facing poverty and having no money. That is just a few. The good things are (well used to be) hanging out with friends, shopping, reading of worlds you cannot begin to imagine. It’s confusing for me as well. I go earn a living by working for an imaginary boss. It even confuses me. I cannot create a world like yours, I am forever going to see life as it is. I will always face the sadness and sorrow of reality. I can only create soulless individuals in my world. But only a few. That’s why I can only gain true happiness by watching others have a great time. I have learned to be patient and to be happy for others. Is your world really that bad though? Aren’t there good things you can tell me about?
I closed down my laptop and lay on my bed. I imagined a phone call, and the phone rang.
“Hello.” I said, flatly.
“Hi.” replied a faint voice.
Without hesitation, I hung up. I still could not create a perfect individual. The boss I have created was white like snow and was not even three dimensional. He was flat like paper, as if he were a drawing. It spooked me, but having no leadership skills, this was the best I could do.
