another Rei story^^

“Uhhh…” Rei fell to the ground. She was injured and couldn’t fight.
“You were foolish to come alone!”
“Err…” Rei looked in to his eyes. *Itachi…I know I can…do this on my own! That’s how you taught me to be…* She tried to get up. It hurt but she found the strength. She wasn’t with Itachi. He had told her to leave Akatsuki for a while until he came to find her. He wouldn’t tell her anything else. Se ran into some trouble and got herself hurt. Now she was fighting at a disadvantage. If she wasn’t hurt she could easily beat this guy in to the ground. He came at her, she tried to move but she couldn’t. He threw her down again. She landed a few feet away.
“Uhhh…” She couldn’t get up. She knew she was wide open just laying there but she was in to much pain.
“Now…You die!” He yelled.
She had to move but still she couldn’t. The pain had taken over her body. She closed her eyes tightly and bit down hard prepared to leave this world she thought about Itachi. *I’m sorry…I wasn’t strong enough…* She felt a tear run down her face. He came at her fast. She felt him coming toward her. But there was no impact. She opened her eyes. Shikamaru, Sakura, and Neji were in front of her. Then she noticed the ninja on the ground feet way front them. Sakura had kicked him so hard she probably broke several of his ribs if she didn’t kill him with that kick.
“Rei…Are you alright?”
“Sa…ku…ra” Rei closed her eyes she still couldn’t move. She felt someone’s arms around her. She opened her eyes. Shikamaru was holding her.
“This is troublesome…” He sighed.
She turned away. “I…I’m sorry…”
“Unnnunnn…don’t be that’s even more troublesome…”
“He’s not getting up…” She heard Neji say. “Why couldn’t she…?” Rei couldn’t hear the rest of what he said.
“Look at those wounds…even Tsunade wouldn’t be able to fight like that…” Sakura sighed.
“Let’s get her back to Konoha…” Shikamaru sighed.
He carried her back. She woke up on the couch at Shikamaru’s house. Sakura was with her.
“Your injuries aren’t that bad but you shouldn’t over do it.” Sakura smiled.
“Thank you…Sakura…but how did you…”
“We were on a mission and Shikamaru found you…I don’t know how he did it…”
“Shika…ma…ru…” Rei fell asleep again. When she woke up again Shikamaru was with her. He smiled.
“Where’s Itachi…?” He asked. He was angry; she could see it on his face.
“I don’t know…” She said sadly.
“Err… How could he just leave you..?” Shikamaru said to himself.
“He didn’t leave me…but he’s just not with me now…”
“What do you mean?” Shikamaru asked.
“I can’t be with him now…Being with Akatsuki is dangerous now…” She said.
“Dangerous now? It wasn’t dangerous before?” Shikamaru asked sarcastically.
“I mean he can’t protect me like he could before!” Rei was angry, Shikamaru was pushing her buttons.
“I get…I’m sorry…But why didn’t you just come here?”
“I was afraid…”
“Of what…?” Shikamaru asked as he took her hand. He’d never heard her say she was afraid before.
She looked away…She really was afraid. “Leader…” She said softly.
“Who is he…do you know…” Shikamaru put his arms around her.
“I only know him as leader…” She was shaking. “I want to stay here…but he can find me here so easily.” She said. Tears were running down her face.
“Stay here…”
“Shikamaru!” She turned to him. “Didn’t you hear…”
He put his finger over her lips to quiet her.
“There are people here who want to protect you…Even Hokage-sama. You’re safe here Rei…”
“Shi…Shikamaru!” She buried her face in his shirt.
“What a drag…” He sighed.
“I…know that’s not how you feel…” Rei said.
“Yeah…Now stop crying…”
She wiped her eyes. Yoshino Shikamaru’s mother came in the room.
“Rei-chan…how are you feeling..?”
“Better now…okaasan…” Rei had come to think of Yoshino as her own mother. Rei’s mother had been kind and was the one who protected Rei. When she died Rei’s father disowned her. When Rei first met Yoshino she was kind and she stood up for herself not letting a man tell her what to do. Rei respected that. Yoshino was just like Rei’s birth mom, kind and gentle, but firm and strong. Yoshino wrapped her arms around her.
“That’s good…Do you need anything?”
“No I’m alright…Thanks though.”
Yoshino smiled. “I’ll bring you a glass of water.” She left the room.
“She…really doesn’t have to do that…” Rei sighed.
“She does what she wants…” Shikamaru said.
“I know…”
Yoshino brought a glass of water in and set it on the table then she left again. Rei was tired and fell asleep. Shikamaru stayed by her side. *Rei…you’re safe here. So don’t do something stupid.* He thought. She opened her eyes slightly and grabbed his hand.
“Uhhh…”
“I know I’m safe here, and that you’ll protect me.”
