"Itachi….nnn…no Itachi…I…Itachi, ITACHI, ITACHI!”
“Rei…Rei wake up!” Deidara shook her. “REI!”
She sat up. “Dei…Deidara…sama…” She whimpered. Tears rolled down her cheeks. Deidara forgot his anger as he saw her crying. He put his hand on her head.
“At this rate neither of us will ever get a good sleep…” He sighed.
“I…I’m sorry…”
“Forget it…” Deidara pulled her close and wiped away the tears in her eyes. “I know you miss him…”
Rei was trying hard up until he said that not to cry. But now she couldn’t hold back any more. Rei hugged Deidara tightly as she began to cry again. He put his hand on her head.
Rei fell asleep on Deidara’s lap after an hour of crying. He slid his hands around her and put her back in her bed. She whimpered in her sleep. Deidara walked out of the room quietly.
“She’s finally quiet?” Kisame leaned on the wall just outside the door.
“Yea…you heard her calling for him as well…hmmm?”
“Yes…” Kisame stood up straight. “And now I’m going back to bed.”
“Hmm…” Deidara watched him walk down the hall. He turned and looked back into the room once more. Rei moaned and whimpered.
“Poor kid…” he whispered to himself as he walked back to his room.
The next morning Rei woke up early and started on all the work she had to do. She was so tired and upset but didn’t show it or even think about it. Each time a thought about Itachi came to her she pushed it away. When she was almost finished she was called in front of Leader. Rei could only think of all the things he’d say. She wanted so badly to just run, but that would only make matters worse. She made her way to Leader’s room. She stepped inside.
“Y…you…wanted to see me…” She stammered.
“Yes…come here…”
She walked up to him and got on her knees as she looked down.
“Give me one good reason as to why I should let you stay with Akatsuki!”
“Uh…” Rei looked up for a split second then back down. “I…”
“Well?”
Rei thought hard but she couldn’t think of any reason to keep her.
“There….isn’t one…” Rei finally managed to say as she looked down at her hands.
“Humph….then leave…you’re of no more use to us.”
“I haven’t anywhere else to go!” Rei cried.
Leader glanced at her.
“I…don’t want to leave! This is all I’ve ever known! Please!” She yelled.
“…” Leader still watched her closely.
“Please, please don’t take this away from me…this is all I have…the only thing I have left! So please don’t…” She softened her voice.
“Hmmm…”
“Please I’ve never asked you to do anything for me! I just want to stay here and be with Deidara-sama, Kisame-sama and Sasori-sama, and even the others!”
“You think I should let you stay because of that?”
“No… I know that isn’t a good reason to let me stay… but still” Rei’s tears fell to the ground as she talked.
“Hmmm…” He thought to himself.
“Please…please…” Rei repeated softly
“Fine…”
“UH..!” Rei looked up.
“You may stay as long as you work to earn your keep! Now get out of my sight!”
She stood up “Yes sir…” She said softly. “And…thank you” She smiled slightly as she barely said the words. Then she left. She started down the hall but was pulled aside by Deidara.
“Deidara-sama…?” Rei looked at him, he seemed worried.
“What did he say?” Deidara asked.
“Nothing…he’s going to let me stay that’s all…” Rei said.
Rei thought she saw a smile on Deidara’s face but she wasn’t sure.
“You should get some rest, hmmm”
“But I’m not done with…”
“It’s alright I’ll take care of it.”
“Deidara-sama…”
“Go to your room, now hmm.”
She nodded and headed for her room. She really would have rather done the work. Now she had time on her hands, time to think. She didn’t want to think, to think about Itachi or any one else.
She sat down on her bed and looked around her room. It was empty. She’d taken everything down and hid it away. But now she wished she hadn’t. She got up and walked over to her desk and ran her hand across the bare top. She moved to the drawer and opened it reveling mostly pictures amongst other things. She took out a picture of her and Itachi from when she was young. She smiled as she remembered that day. Then she remembered that Itachi wasn’t with her anymore. He just left. He didn’t tell her anything she just woke up and he was gone. He didn’t leave anything behind. The only things she had to even prove he existed were pictures.
A tear landed on the picture frame. She watched it run down and off to the ground. She put the picture down and looked back in the drawer. There were more pictures of her and Itachi and some of her and Sakura. She moved the pictures one by one until she found the one of her and Shikamaru. She held it close to her heart as tears fell. She hadn’t seen any one from Konoha since Itachi left, which was over five months ago.
She put all the pictures back into the drawer and laid down on her bed. She thought about everything Itachi and her went through. She cried herself to sleep once more.
Deidara was about to go back to his room, but decided to check on Rei. He opened the door and saw her tossing and turning in her bed.
“She hasn’t slept peacefully since then…” He said to himself.
He walked over and gently pulled her into his lap. She seemed to calm down a bit, but not much. She whimpered and cried out in her sleep. Deidara ran his hand through her hair in a way similar to how Itachi would to calm her. Once she seemed to be sleeping as peacefully as possible Deidara left. He went back to his room and lay down while he could.
Rei woke up after a dream about Itachi. She sat up and hugged her knees. “Every night…” She whispered. “Every night since you left…I dream about you…” She looked out the window. “I cause Deidara-sama so much trouble…I wonder….if I was just too much trouble for you….is that the reason you left…” Tears filled her eyes. She wiped them away. “I must look like such a fool…” She sat there for awhile.
She got up and quietly slipped out of her room. She handed for Deidara’s room. She didn’t dare go in, so she sat outside with her back against the wall. She had no idea why she felt better not being in her room. She fell asleep there against the wall.
When Deidara got up to check on her he found her outside the door. “Hmm… that…idiot…” Then he noticed that she was sleeping peacefully for once. He took her into his room and put her in his bed. Deidara slept on the floor with his back against the bed. In the morning Rei didn’t wake up early like normal. At first Deidara thought she might have been sick. But she didn’t have a fever. She was finally getting some good sleep, so he didn’t wake her.
When Rei did wake up she didn’t know where she was at first. The she remembered it was Deidara’s room. But he wasn’t there. She looked outside and saw that it was midday.
“Uh….oh no!” She got up and went back to her room to change. She ran into Kisame in the hall.
“Kisame-sama…”
“Just getting up?” He asked as he saw what she was wearing.
“Uhh…y…yes.” She said.
“Hmmm…well hurry and get your work done or Leader will give you a piece of his mind.”
“Yes sir.” She ran along.
Kisame looked after her. Maybe she’s beginning to get over it. He thought.
Once in her room she changed into her clothes and when to work on the papers of information she had. She worked hard for three hours before her mind started to wonder. She thought of why she’d slept so well. It worried her somewhat. She thought that it meant that she was beginning to forget Itachi. She shook that thought off. There was no way she could forget him. She couldn’t work anymore so she put the papers away and hid the secret scrolls behind a loose brick in the wall. She walked over to the window and stared out. “What….what should I do…” she thought aloud. Tears filled her eyes. She wanted to be with Itachi so badly. She wondered if he’d forgotten her, or if like herself he thought of her everyday.
She went back to her desk and sat down just as it was getting dark. She pulled open the drawer. Rei put all the pictures she had back on her desk. Deidara came to check on her and saw her. He thought he should leave her be, and went back to his room. Rei finished setting all the pictures up. She took out the other things she had, a fan and necklace, both gifts from Itachi. She started to shut the door when the setting sun glinted off of something in the back. She pulled it farther open and picked up a pin wheel.
“I remember this…” She whispered as she looked it over.
It was the first thing Itachi had ever given her. It was right after he finally started to think of her as more then a weapon. He’d caught her looking at the other kids with them, and getting sidetracked in front of shops. She hadn’t asked him to get her one but the next day he told her to wait for him under a tree and when he came back he just handed it to her and didn’t say anything.
A tear dropped down. She laid the pin wheel in front of the oldest pictures she had. Rei rested her head in her arms as she stared at the picture. She remembered everything Itachi told her, everything he’d taught her. She started to drift off as one thought circled in her mind. He told it to her every time he came back and found her worrying that he wouldn’t come back to her. “I promise I’ll never leave you behind, remember that, Rei.”
i hope u liked it^^ and im srry if it seems like it just ended, i do that sometimes...so tell me if u want a part two but that doesn't mean ill actually make one, i might.
