I found out my favorite uncle (Tony) was in town with his daughter (Mandy) and her husband (Jared) and they were staying at my grandparents from Friday night - Sunday morning. We went up to my brother's place so that Mandy and Jared could see the house--Tony had gone to go visit an old highschool buddy.
Well, we went back to my grandparents to meet up with my dad and step mom (Karalee) because Granny had made a reservation at a local bar/restaurant for everyone. When we got there, I found out my step sister (Heather) and her husband (Dan) were going to meet us there.
We stopped by the house of some friends (Irv & Twila) of my grandparents since Irv had just gotten out of the hospital for bypass surgery and we all wanted to say "hi" before going to go eat.
Lemme explain something here before I get on with the story. My step brother in law is a complete dumbass and no one likes him at all. We don't have a real good reason for hating Dan...at least not at first (I'll explain this part later)...but any little thing he did tend to drive us into a foaming-at-the-mouth rage.
Anyway, the night started out well. Dan was behaving himself and Heather was actually looking like she was having fun getting to hang out with about 80% of my dad's side. I stress here that Dan was actually behaving himself and being rather kinda cool.
Once supper was done, we walked back to Irv & Twila's where we had parked our vehicles and "shot the s**t" as my grandpa puts it for a while. Me, my grandparents, Mandy, and Jared left first in my granny's truck. Dad, Tony, and Karalee came next in Karalee's SUV about 5-10 minutes later. Heather and Dan stayed for a while longer.
About 15 minutes after Dad, Tony, and Karalee showed up at my grandparent's place, Twila called Granny to tell her this (this is my interpretation of it from what I could hear and then what dad said):
"After you guys left, Heather came with me inside to talk. A few minutes while later, we realized that her car was backing out of the drive. I said to Heather, 'Your car is backing out of the drive!' After Heather realized Dan was leaving her, she said 'I can't call him, my phone is in my purse and my purse is in the car!' but I told her the purse was on the back porch where we were all earlier. She called Daniel and he came back to get her.' So Heather is going to make it home alright, but that god damned son of a b***h was just going to leave her without a ride if she couldn't call him!"
Dan had left Heather all alone in a town of 85 in the middle of the night with no ride home since Twila does not drive after sundown (a paranoia thing with her) and Irv is in no shape to drive. And note, in my 23 years, I have NEVER EVER heard my granny swear (granny swearing scares me)
The title of this journal entry is exactly what my uncle said when granny repeated this to us. Well, Tony, as I told you earlier tonight, get in line.
The only thing that is keeping me, Heather's brother, and my two brothers from doing said action is Heather. We all care for her and we wish she'd pull her head out of her a** and see that her husband is no good for her and divorce him...but that's like trying to wish that the grass would naturally turn blue--it's not gonna happen any time soon since she has a strict "I do not believe in divorce" rule.
So what if her mom and my dad are both on their third marriage? Not everyone can have a happy ever after with the first person they marry.
I just hope that if she does see the light, he doesn't go postal and kill her and then come after the rest of us (because we all damn well know Dan would. a*****e's got a permit to carry a concealed gun--which, given his history, we want to know how the hell he got the gun, much less the permit!!!)
Edit/Update So I just got a call from my dad. He and Karalee had gone over to Heather & Dan's apartment to have a talk with Dan's actions last night. Surprisingly, my dad kept his temper down.
When confronted, Dan's excuse was "Well that's how my family in Michigan acts!"
"So. The. ********. What. You're in Kansas now Dan with MY family and we don't put up with that s**t. At ALL!" is what I would have said if I was there...not to mention I may have actually slapped him.
My step mom was and she said something similar. Yay Karalee! You're not a complete idiot sometimes!
Right now me and my dad believe Dan's mentally abusing Heather, which is something we can't easily prove so can't do anything about. However! If that a*****e ever lays a hand on her, me and my dad will be getting Grandpa, Uncle Tony, my two brothers (Scotty & Steven), Heather's brother (Steve), Jared all together and we will go after Dan. Hell or high water, we will kick his a**. And to think of it, I'm sure Karalee's brothers and dad will want in on it too--but my personal feeling on this is my dad's side has a bit more of a** kickery in us than Karalee's. I know me, Scotty, and Steven definately do because we've got Irish blood mixed with German blood (dad's side provides the German blood, mom's side provides the Irish blood).

Now I don't feel like the only one with family issues.
My advice for Heather- especially if she doesn't have kids yet;
look at your life for yourself, and see what makes YOU happy. Really, truly happy.
Living with people who don't care about you never leaves you happy.
ok.
well, your grandma swearing scares me too.
