Puberty of a Different Kind
Ookami, Tsumi, and Hono woke up late the next day. Hono sat up and rubbed his eyes, looked up at the sun, and, realizing what time it was, shouted, "Wake up! Wake up! We're late for school!" Tsumi opened her eyes slowly and yawned, "It's Saturday, Hono. We don't go to school on Saturday." She closed her eyes again and went back to sleep. "Oh, okay then," he murmured. Realizing that Ookami didn't even flinch when he yelled made him laugh a bit. "I guess I'll go get breakfast." He transformed into the fox-form he so loved to be in and trotted toward the deeper end of a river.
A few minutes past before he finally spotted a fish and jumped in. About half an hour later, Hono trotted back to the girls, who were both awake by now, with three fish he carried by their tails. He dropped them and went back to his so called "human" form. "Why how nice of you, Hono. I sure do enjoy fox slobber all over a fresh fish," Ookami teased. She picked up the largest one and bit into it, raw, scales and all. Tsumi laughed at her, "Well I guess you-" She stopped mid-sentence when she noticed Ookami and Hono staring at her. "What, what is it?" She questioned. Hono and Ookami looked at each other and smiled. "Well, well. Miss Bunny finally got her trademark animal extensions," Ookami laughed and pointed to Tsumi's head.
Tsumi ran to a pool of water and looked at herself. "Oh..my...god..." She put her hand on one of the rabbit ears on her head. "Oh......my......god...." she repeated. Hono smiled, "Well, at least now you KNOW you're a Yoku Narimasu no Usagi," he giggled. Tsumi glared at him and looked over at Ookami, "How did this happen?!" Ookami just laughed. "Well, your animal parts took a while to develop, since you didn't acknowledge being what you are in the other world." She wiggled her wolf tail a bit. The very idea of having rabbit ears sent chills up Tsumi's spine. "Maybe you have the tail, too," Hono added eagerly. Ookami glared at him. "Maybe, maybe not. However, thats not for you to know."
She looked at Tsumi and tilted her head, "I just have this feeling you're supposed to do something else other than be a healer. Oh i think i know!" She went to the bag she had when she first met Tsumi. Taking out a large, oval object, she walked back over. "Here, watch that until it hatches...Something tells me you're supposed to have that." Hono looked disappointed. "Follow me, Hono. Since we have free time, I'll show you how to use a katana." As soon as the word "katana" left Ookami's lips Hono's ears and tail perked up and he stood himself, "OK!" Ookami laughed and walked into a bigger clearing, taking a piece of wood big enough for a wooden sword.
Tsumi watched them leave, then looked at the egg. Her eyes went wide as she saw the beautiful colors that coated it. Something was alive and stirring in it, and she what was she supposed to do with it? Tame it? She shook her head and layed it down next to a tree. After splashing her face a few times, she grabbed one of the rabbit ears and sighed, "Great...Now I'm an even BIGGER freak." She sat on a rock and felt something underneath her. Thinking it was a smaller rock or pebble, she stood up and wiped the surface under her. She still felt it. Soon she realized it, she had a rabbit tail. "Oh wonderful!" She sighed and rested her head on her hand. She looked over at the egg as it started to shake. It cracked a bit and soon something was chipping it away.
