Cave of the Unspoken
In a hollow cave I lie, No one dwells there but I. On the cold, damp floor my back is spread, Numbness has taken over me, I might as well be dead.
I felt a droplet of water slide down my shoulder. It stirred up my being, My insides turned sore.
Silence filled the darkness As anguish conquered my senses. Invisible nightmares won't let me rest, Day and night I see frightful creatures whom I detest.
Dancing figures in the dark I see, Thought I was alone but there was someone else beside me. A figure different from the others surrounding the cave, Its vaporous, gray shadow illuminating in a rave.
It moved towards me, As in a silent voice it whispered. Amazingly, as impossible as it may be, I understood every word though unheard.
In the thin air it vanished, Living me with unspoken words I thought I've never heard before. Words that could be the answer; The key to open the cave's invisible door.
I was so close to finally being set free, But too scared to move at all. All I did was stare at the lurking shadows In the cave's dark walls.
And so I closed my eyes and wondered If I'd ever get out of this cave. Until I slowly drifted off and slumbered, With the lingering hope in my heart, That from this seemingly endless nightmares I can be saved.
