Lighting strikes across the sky,
Dark into light,
But as quick as it comes it leaves,
Darkness pours down again,
Rains against my window,
Pounds to get in,
Slams against the walls,
And finally the dam breaks loose,
And darkness pours in my life,
But lighting strikes,
And light shuns darkness into a corner,
This time it breaks the swirling clouds,
And the sun shines through,
Light fills the dark cracks,
And warms my face,
But it's only a small break in the sea of cloud,
Swimming around,
The current pulls me down,
Struggling to get out,
Up in no longer up,
But down,
No way out,
Locked up tight,
A blinding light,
And lighting strikes again.
