She closed her eyes, trying to say goodbye
While she held back a nostalgic sigh
Staring at the sky then to the ground
Searching for something that would never be found
Then, opening her eyes she saw him there
And turned away, like she didn't care
But she did, and lowering her eyes, squeezing them tight
She knew tears would fall, try as she might
And hurried away, not noticing the eyes following her through the crowd
All the while, not daring to voice itself out loud
To the departed, tear-stricken face it said something different, something new
You know what it said? It said three simple words: I love you
