Hey folks. I'm deviating a bit from the usual. Just wanted to write about today.
I decided to try my hand out in Japanese cuisine for lunch today. I made the works so I could have a little verity. I made Nigiri sushi with raw salmon and shrimp. I also made Gunkan maki, Temaki, Ura maki, and some Sashimi. I wanted to make Chirashi but figured that was enough food o.o;; I even had all the fixings; Gari (gari shoga; pickled ginger), Wasabi and shoyu (Japanese soy sauce). I made chicken and vegetable fried rice for dinner with some of the leftover Nori and Kombu all shredded into the rice. I had a lot leftover that I'm saving for lunch tomorrow. YAY!
Everything came out really good considering I have almost no experience with sushi. I only make sushi like once a month. But I'm already planning on next weeks dinner, when my sister comes to visit. Since she's a vegetarian; I think I'll be making Nigiri sushi with Chinese mushrooms and tofu, also some Hosomaki with avocado and sesame. Hmm... ooh and maybe Temaki sushi with asparagus and mushrooms? Yummie. I wonder if I should buy some Sake? Or should I just stick with tea?
