So, a lot has been going on in Lunar's little chunk of the world.
We moved last year into a house that I adore. It was a tremendous blessing because the place we were before that was - well - the neighborhood wasn't safe. The kids in the area were awful. The parents were either too drunk or just didn't give a damn to put any controls on them, so there would be 12 year old kids wandering the street at midnight on a school night. Break-ins, beer bottles, cigarette butts, loud parties. The woman across the street was a nightmare. Her son broke into our garage, we busted him and called the cops. From that moment on, instead of being embarrassed and apologizing for her child’s behavior she began flipping my daughter off and shouting obscenities from the street. We don’t belong in a place like that.
Give me a quiet little plot of land and make it safer than safe for my girl – a place where I can bury my hands in the warm Earth - and I'm a happy camper. Which is what we had found with thie house we’re currently in...until...
I get a call Friday, the owners are in town and want to “come measure”
Our lease expires soon, so I immediately thought “Oh hell, this isn’t good. They’re coming to “measure” to see if their furniture will fit in the house.!”
Sure enough, they are moving back and are taking over the house – and we’re being forced to leave our happy place.
My heart is a mess. I love that house. I wanted to stay for years and years – but it was expensive.
Sooo…I’ve dug around and found another house to rent. It’s bigger, has a community pool, no real garden to speak of (boo hoo for me), but my girl wouldn’t need to change schools and it seems like a pretty safe neighborhood. I applied for it last night. It’s cheap. Way cheaper than what we’re paying now. After a few months we could buy a big screen TV. Oh yeah baby!
But I found out we’re locked into our contract until the END OF MARCH. Which means I’ll have to come up with an extra month’s rent on both places. Yippee.
We shall see…
