Gut and Heart Wrenching Pain

Following her aunt Xangord, Shalimar wondered briefly where Taran was going when he suddenly broke away from the group--but she did not have to wonder long as they reached a pair of doors. Throwing the doors open, Shalimar's mother, Dragon, eyeballed the Rensok inside.

Handing Leatherface over to Nissa, Dragon leapt over the heads of the worshippers and landed in front of Xink. Spinning, she caught two arrows fired at her from the shadows above and flung them back at the assassin above. "Now!"

As Nissa fired up Leatherface, those who were dragons transformed into their anthro forms and surged into the cathedral to attack the Renstok. The strange woman they had found stayed back with Holly. Using Leatherface to cut a swath through the Renstok, Nissa helped Shalimar reach the altar.

"You will not prevent us from bringing Myuu to the world!" the leader of the Renstok worshipers said, swinging a jeweled knife at Dragon.

Easily dodging the knife, Dragon said, "I don't know who this Myuu person is, but you have messed with the wrong family. Shalimar, get them out of here!"

"Shalimar!" Xangord yelled, shoving five worshipers back as Shalimar grabbed Xink and pulled him away from the altar. "Look out!"

Diving to the ground, Shalimar dodged a spear that had been flung at her. Climbing to her feet, Shalimar crossed her forearms across her face as a Renstok worshiper blasted her, and drove her back, with a pillar of fire. Slammed against a wall, Shalimar lowered her arms as the fire ceased.

"Crud," Shalimar said as chains strapped her to the wall.

"All we need to bring Myuu into the world is the death of an innocent soul," the head worshiper said, approaching Shalimar with the jeweled dagger. "And what's more innocent than a baby?"

Glancing around, Shalimar saw that the others were all busy fighting the worshipers--and her mother was pulling Xink back to Holly and the strange woman. Looking back at the head worshiper, she said, "I'm not preg--"

Suddenly feeling cramps, Shalimar gasped. These were no normal cramps. These were the symptoms of an egg manifesting inside of her.

"HAHAHAH!" the head worshiper said, racing forward with the jeweled dagger.

"SHALIMAR!" Wynn said, placing herself between the dagger and Shalimar.

"NO! Wynn!" Shalimar screamed as Wynn doubled over the knife.

Laughing nervously, the head Renstok worshiper backed off the alter. His laugh turning into a scream, the head worshiper ran out of the temple. Seeing their leader flee, the other worshipers dropped their weapons and fled. Those that came with Dragon stared.

"Cowards!" the strange woman said, kicking one of the Renstok as they ran by her.

"Wynn!" Shalimar cried, struggling uselessly against the chains that bound her. "H-hang on! MOM HELP!!!"

Swiveling her head, Dragon saw Shalimar chained and Wynn crumpled on the floor at her feet. Snarling, Dragon flew over to the altar by creating a blast of water beneath her. Grabbing the chains, Dragon easily snapped them.

"Please," Shalimar said as n** was feeling Wynn's throat for a pulse. She already knew what n** was going to say. "Please no..."

"She's dead," n** said, standing in time to grab Shalimar before she could collapse. "There's nothing we can do for her."

"She's not dead!" Shalimar exclaimed, struggling against n**. "She can't be dead!"

Sliding down the wall, Dragon sat next to Wynn's body. "We're going to have to tell--"

"Dragon?" Xangord asked. She had gone over to check on Xink to make sure he were okay. "He hasn't come out of it."

"What?" Dragon asked, looking over at the two.

"I can't get him to come out of his trance," Xangord said.

"That is only because Myuu has not yet entered this world," the strange woman said.

" 'Yet?' " Dragon asked. "What do you mean by 'yet?' "

"Myuu had originally planned on coming into this realm through Shalimar's child," Holly said. Her voice had a cold, final tone to it. "However, because Wynn chose to protect Shalimar and her child..."

"Myuu is NOT going to come through Wynn," Dragon said. "She--Shalimar's pregnat?"

"She is the perfect medium for him," Lord Avondale interrupted. "Nothing we do now will stop Myuu from coming through. For now, I suggest we retreat back to the ship and regroup before Myuu comes through."

"I am not leaving Wynn's body here and Myuu is NOT going to come through her!" Dragon said. To Shalimar, she said, "You and I are going to have a talk there."

"Do you want Myuu to kill Xink?!" Lord Avondale demanded. "The longer we sit here arguing, the better chance that Myuu is going to kill him AND us!"

"Since no one has asked it yet," Xangord said. "I will. Can't Holly simply stop him from coming through. I mean, she is--"

"I am no match for him," Holly replied. "Ever since I came back, my powers here have been weakening. I really am now no stronger than a mere human."

Suddenly, a siren went off. Stepping away from a control panel on the wall, the strange woman said, "We best be going, Duckies. That there be the warning that the ship be about to explode. Dragon, carry the green one--Rhonabwy may be able to do something. Vampire, carry the one with child as she is about to lay."
