The Unforgiving
The snow covered ground and cold crispy air made it hard for Jason to keep walking. He slowly dragged onward into the unknown, passing by the small cubic houses. The year is 2095 and the powerful dictatorship now rules most of the country. No longer is everyone equal, people are put to work on experiments. There most known and productive experiment is the one called CCISP (Children Changed into Super People). Jason is one of those children taken from his family at birth and placed in a “special care facility”.
Terrified and alone, Jason kept moving at all times, not even stopping to take a break. He was able to escape the chamber they had put him and his sister, Nina, in but sadly only he had escaped. Jason didn’t know how old he was, who his parents were and where he was now. Only left with some faint memories of his mother and the pain of the number brunt in his arm. The number burnt in his arm read 00034; it meant he was the 34th child in this experiment. It itched and felt like it was being poked with needles. They use the number for a tracking device, that’s why Jason couldn’t stop for too long. The wind picked up fast and the snow came down harder and harder with each passing minutes. Exhausted and drained of all his energy, Jason passed out near an old high school.
“Ouch!” Jason exclaimed, feeling the pain in his arm. He woke up to find himself inside a strange room that looked like it could be thousands years old. The faded green flowers on the wall were pealing off the wall along with an old picture of kids. “Where am I,” he thought, “Did they find me already?” Jason went to get up but he still had no energy left. Suddenly he heard footsteps coming close to the door, scared and eager to see the person or thing that was coming toward the doorway. The door opened and much to his surprise it was a girl with long white hair and horrifying bright white eyes.
“Oh look you’re up, good.” She said joyfully.
“Where am I?” he asked while slowly sliding away from the girl. Without warning his arm felt as if someone set it on fire. He clutched on to his arm tightly hoping the pain would go away.
“Oh, almost forgot, hi my name is Gigi.” Her voice cheerful, she leisurely walked into the room with a plate of food, “here it’s not much but you need your strength back.” Famished and frightened Jason took the plate, cautiously looking at the pill on the bare plate. “You just swallow, it’s an energy pill, it should do you some good even if is dose not taste good.”
“Um, thanks but you still didn’t answer my question.” He said swallowing the small oval shaped pill. Swiftly, she went out the door, down a flight of stairs and across the hall into a pitch-black room. “That’s it; I’m going to fine out just where I am myself.” He said stubbornly. Pushing himself up, Jason slowly walked through the door. The energy pill still has not kicked in yet so he felt wobbly and the room started to spin, he tumbled down the stairs. Now in even more pain, he crawled next to the doorway, listening extremely carefully to the people in the room.
“Why did you bring him in here?” A cold monstrous voice asked.
“Well I couldn’t get leave him just lying there, he is one of us and we should help.” The girl said in an offended tone.
“Fine help him, but I’m not!” screamed the cold monstrous voice.
“Fine I don’t need your help!” exclaimed the girl. For a few minutes it was completely silent. Than out came a tall, blonde guy with an eye patch on his right eye. He gave Jason a wicked look, a look of hate.
“Who am I,” he wondered out loud, “and should I trust these people?” Pictures of the cell he was held in flashed in his head throughout the night. The thick walls made from glass combined with stone lined with a poison acid. The workers who stared at him for hours on end watching his every move. Waiting for something strange to happen, the slightest differences would send them bananas. The nightmare continued, hearing the screams of other children echo down the white tiled hallway. Felling the pain as they dropped buckets of ration on him.
Meanwhile, “Doctor” Andrews was looking at her Burn Map (a map that shows were all of the children are using the burnt numbers on their skin), trying to find where experiment 00034 went. Her boss had threatened to “remove” her form her job if she could not get him back, he gave her one week to find him and three days have passed by already. Cautiously, she scanned the map over and over again but found nothing. It seems that he is out of the maps range. Distressed and angry she called the head dictator and asked to round up some of the military.
Using a holographic record book, the burn map and a ration tracker, Dr. Andrews searched for the missing experiment, along with a group of fifty military officers. Their search lasted for about two long and weary days of going into people’s cubic houses and blocking off streets just to find a boy.
“Why are we taking all this time just to find a child?” asked Joe Kenly, one of the officers.
“It’s not just anything child, he is a highly dangerous and an important key to all the research that I have done on ration,” Dr. Andrews shouted, “plus, if we don’t find him alive you will be “removed” from your job.” Officer Joe Kenly and the other kept looking for him. Then finally, a faint number showed up on the burn map and the ration tracker started to beep like crazy. The map lean them to an old high school, which use to be used to teach children about the dictator.
“Oh great, thanks to him there going to kill us” the boy with the eye patch said.
“There’re not going to kill us, just capture us and put us in cages for the rest of our lives.” Gigi responded. Jason looked at both of them and thought “maybe I should just go, so they don’t fine my “friends”.”
“Were going to die.”
“No were not!”
SLAM, went the door. Jason decided that he alone would go and face his fate that waited outside the high school. He stood there at the top of the steps looking down at all of the military officers. Staring at them with a glare of hate and disgust. These are the people who made his life painful and miserable. The anger for all of them overwhelmed him and the darkest thoughts filled his head. His fingernails grew out longer and shaper, his skin turning a grayish blue, fangs develop in his mouth and his green eyes narrowed and turned a dark red. The number that was burnt into his skin glowed bight yellow and was agonizing.
“What’s happening?” Joe asked while hiding behind Dr. Andrews. Before she could answer, Jason jumped down from the steps and started to run toward them.
“Call in the halo-laser tanks” screamed one of the officers. All of the officers grabbed their laser cannons and guns and began to fire at the mutant child. Jason fought back, using his fangs and sharp nails; he also grabbed one of the laser guns and used that too. As the tanks arrived many of the officers were already dead or wounded. Every time they took a shot at him, he seemed to absorb it. This battle lasted for more than two days. Continuously more back-up came but that would not stop him, even the dictator himself came to fight, he was killed with in an hour.
Now only ten officers and Dr. Andrews were left, fearing for their lives. They darted away as quickly as they could. Jason, hurt and weak, dropped to the ground and closed his eyes forever.
Thanks to his bravery, now in the world of 3000 it went back to being a Republic and peace was restored. Nowadays, Gigi works as a school teacher, teaching children about this historical moment in time. Dr. Andrews is now spending her time finding a cure for caner (in 3020 she will be successful) and the mysterious guy with the eye patch disappeared right after Jason’s body was buried in the Hall of Fame Cemetery in 2099. Who could have thought that a mutant child could save the world?
