I walked up the steps and rang the doorbell. The door swung open, but no one was behind it! I went in to check out if anyone was there but there was a ghastly silence. I walked into the house and heard a faint moaning coming from behind me. Immediately, I started climbing the creaky stairs. Nervously, looking behind, I saw a ghost glowing in the darkness flailing its arms!
I ran as fast as I could, up the stairs and away from the ghost! I was now on the second floor. Seeing the next flight of stairs, I made a sharp turn around the corner and up the stairs. Running up the steps as quickly as possible, I reached the third floor. There was a dead silence. The ghost had disappeared. Instead of seeing nothing, like the last time I visited, I saw a skeleton. It looked like it has been there for a long time. I knelt down to get a closer look at it. I then looked behind myself one more time to see if the ghost had followed me. When I turned around I found myself face-to-face with the ghost! She looked pale white and of old age.
“What are you doing in my house?” the old woman asked.
“I just wanted to know… I mean….” I stuttered.
“You mean, why I haunt this house?” she replied. “I’ll tell you. I haunt this house for the sake of my son, the one in bones lying behind you. I found him like this here up stairs one day, dead.”
“So why is his body still here and not buried, in a proper place?” I asked.
“I just couldn’t. If you do it for me, my soul will rest in peace,” Margaret replied.
The next day, I called the police anonymously about the body in the house. Margaret Ford’s wishes were upheld. Ever since, the house has been quiet and peaceful.
