Gaia was kind enough to offer Madding a safe place to stay when civil war threatened her family on a planet far far away. She traveled bravely alone for three weeks to get to Gaia and her exile. It was lonely and she was worried, but she made do. She saved up her money allowance and the stipend that the Gaia government allowed her in order to get by, and made friends with a small male kitten named Kaisen. She lived quietly on Gaia for three years before she was finally summoned home to participate in the peace talks.
Madding readied herself for the journey, but this time she was not to be a runaway but a heroine. She bought a plasma sword and learned how to use it. She equipped herself with the latest galactic technology that Gaia had to offer. She trained, body and heart and mind in order to do what she needed to do to save her home planet, her kingdom, and her empire.
Right now Madding is in transit, hopscotching her way anonymously across the galaxy, her little Gaian friend Kaisa trailing along behind her. She's not sure what state her home will be in when she gets there, but she plans to straighten things out one way or another, no matter what.
