I actually have time to write up a Journal entry, seeing as how my job is over for the summer. whee
Gaian News
Donation Items Dominatrix, anyone? I remember seeing a Petition thread, begging for Gaia to release whips. It was quite popular, too. xd So the wish was granted, and now we have the Whip of Fire and the Whip of Ice. whee I like them, but I'm not crazy about them. I tend to like commons better than donation items, anyway. ninja
Fairy Wings (Redux) Um, I bought my first pair in March or so...Had to sell them in May, I think. Stupid donation letters... stressed Ahem. So, obviously, I bought another pair, just because I like them. xd Anyway, I never thought I'd save up enough gold to buy them once, much less twice. <_<
I always thought that Fairy Wings were nice, but too expensive, and not worth the prettiness. But I bought them again because I'm in love with my current avatar. (Yes, I suppose that does sound wrong). I'm not trying to show off my non-existent wealth or anything like that. xd In any case, I won't have any qualms about selling them if (er, when) I run out of gold again. whee
Fishing! I'm fishing a lot these days, trying to earn the new Fishing items. And I've finally completed the Level 1 (or Small) Fishing stuff. 3nodding
Got the Pink Seedkin Cap first. Yes, it's a Cap. The thumbnail for it is incorrect, but it turns up on my head all right. xd
Black Pebbo Cap. Eh...Durem fish are so dull-coloured. But the black is nice, because black matches with everything? *shrugs*
Red Guppy Cap. Matches my Clown Nose nicely. whee
Now for the new Level 2 Fishing hats. I hope I can do it before Fishing 2.0 comes out. sweatdrop
It took me forever to relearn how to filter. And I mean filtering out simply junk, not the fish itself. *shakes a fist* Darn you deteoriating skills! stressed
My Job
Yep, I'm done for the summer. But it still feels like I have to go to work tomorrow. I guess it hasn't sunk in for me yet. O_o So I'm going to do something quite stupid cliche to instill that bittersweet feeling of completion in me. biggrin
What I have learned
I'm not as patient as I once thought I was. I'm better with kids than I thought I was. Little kids are both smarter and dumber than you think. Jokes really do make a bad task better. Things aren't always as bad as they seem. And, of course, hindsight is 20/20. xp
(I'm sure I've learned more than that; I'm just too lazy and/or stupid to think up more. Besides, nobody cares. xd )
Quotable quotes
(Names are changed to protect the guilty. ninja )
Sarah Simon Says: Put your hands on your v****a! blaugh ...Holy crap. eek I was speechless when she did this. (Yes, she did perform the action as well). This coming out of a five year old girl's mouth? @_o;; What killed me was that my co-worker responded, almost tiredly, with, "No, we don't do that at camp. stare ". I somewhat successfully managed to contain my laughter. xd Sarah is the most sophisticated of my kids, but I really don't know why she incorporated that into a children's game. O_O
This was said so matter-of-factly, and I couldn't help smiling because I agree with her. Not verbally, of course. (It's already well established that I'm a bad person, of course sweatdrop .) Yes, we do have a rule of "Everyone is friends with everyone else", but Simone is a handful. On a daily basis, she hits other people, calls them bad names, and even once threw beads at me for fun. ._.
Emily and me Emily: I don't like holding my sweater because it hurts my ears. Me: ...What? O_o Emily: Because my hands are telling my ears that my sweater is too heavy, so then my ears hurt. Me: ...Um, OK. Let me carry it for you. @_o Emily is such a drama queen. sweatdrop
Co-worker Simone didn't turn it off. I don't know what she's smoking. confused Simone has this battery-powered gadget that she brings to camp, and we have specific instructions to turn it off when not in use. Simone always swears that she turns it off, but she never does. That comment made me laugh because it was so inappropriate for a five year old girl. xd
Thank you I always get glomped by Mary. whee Looking down at her smiling face makes me happy. heart
Tammy's parents gave my co-workers and I gifts on her last day. I was so touched. It was pretty bath stuff, and that made me feel so appreciated. A little means a lot. 3nodding
Two of my campers have their mothers working at the camp as well. (Lucky them.) I was the only counsellor to be with some of the kids for the whole summer. My co-workers either worked a half-summer, or got moved into my group later and then left again. (I hope it wasn't because I'm difficult to work with. xp ) So I was the only constant counsellor for the full summer kids, and those two mothers were appreciative. Although I know for a fact one mother liked one of my co-workers ten times more than any other. xd In any case, the other thanked me with a big hug for doing a good job. heart It made me feel undeserving, of course. sweatdrop
I'd better shape up in the future. ninja
