First, there was blinding light. Then, it faded away leaving only a blank surrounding. Issac stepped forward with his Mage's staff besides him. With his newfound memory, he remembered the original scriptures that he read to prepare him for his mission. But it saddened him to return to his childhood lands, reduced to ruins and near nothingness.
...I'm home...
Mysidia was once the home to many spellcasters, and many of his friends. Ever since he left, he had always dreamed of returning to Mysidia to visit his old friends and family. Now, there was nothing. Albert had captured and possibly destroyed all the Mages who lived in this land, and all he could do was to stop him from destroying life as he knew it, and to prevent anything like this from happening again. He walked down the slope and past neighborhoods and abandoned houses, slowly making his way towards the mountains that bordered his homeland. Charred and burnt wreckage was all that he could bear to see from this wasteland. Suddenly, a small snap of a twig alerted his attention. Issac's eye shifted from the left to the right. Then he turned around, and saw nothing. He breathed a sigh of relief and continued forward, Unknown that he was being followed and of the dangers that awaited ahead.
In nearly an hour, he had finally approached the fabled Cave of Forbidden Darkness.
I have always wondered why it was so Forbidden., he thought. Now I finally understand why.
Then as he took another step forward, another snap caught his attention. He spun and held a charged fireball in front of him and saw only a young blond boy. His hair was a bit uneven and slightly unruly, with one bang stretching out the longest and covering his left eye, while the rest just inverted with each bang. He was dressed in a patched up brown long-sleeved sweater, with a white-collared shirt underneath, and his pants were white and patched up. His right eye was hidden behind the shadow of his long bangs, but his left eye was yellow and seemed to glow in the darkness. He looked no older than 11.
"You shouldn't go in there.", said the young boy.
"Why not?", asked Issac.
"Its the Cave of Forbidden Darkness. It's called that for a reason you know."
"Why so, young one?"
"...In the cave is a Blood Red Crystal. I think its part of what nearly destroyed the world many years ago."
"You're a sharp kid...how do you know of this?"
Suddenly, the boy looked grim.
"People came here...the same people that destroyed the Cornerian Intelligence Force."
A shock ran through Issac's spine.
"They did something to me...I don't remember much...but they changed me."
Issac stepped closer to the boy. "What is your name?"
"Eric...Mage's Apprentice, 3rd Class."
"Well, Eric,", started Issac. "I'm Issac, Black Mage, 2nd Class. I'm going to dispose of the crystal once and for all."
Suddenly, Eric's face lit up. "Can I come?"
"What?"
"Let me come with you! I want to help get rid of a dangerous enemy!"
"I don't know...I mean...I don't think I can protect you from something THIS dangerous."
"I'm a Mage's Apprentice, sir!"
Suddenly, his arms blazed into flames, dancing with sparks. "I can defend myself pretty well."
Issac slowly considered it, then walked on, leaving Eric behind with the wind. Then he stopped and sighed.
"Well are you coming or not?", he called.
