This is his story.
Jesse believed in love, but never really thought it could happen to him. But it did. And it was nothing like he thought it'd be. It was dark, exhausting, burdensome... He fell in love with M. His friends did not approve. They were telling him that M was trouble from the beginning. But Jesse wouldn't listen. M was all he could think about, he could dream about, he could feel about... It was unnatural. Being away from M was... painful to Jesse. It actually caused him physical pain. And they were separated quite often. They could only see each other when M was available, and it wasn't a lot. M had many dealings with some shady people from the underworld, but was never actually arrested. In spite of that, M's name was familiar to the police. Jesse was blind to all that.
As the weeks, and then months passed, Jesse had less and less time for his friends. Although, most of them weren't his friends anymore, to be honest. If they would be too stubborn trying to prove to Jesse that M's no good, Jesse would just stop talking to them. He did miss his friends, but it couldn't compare to how much he'd miss M if they'd break up.
M, on the other hand... didn't have anything against Jesse. It was always convenient to have someone adore you like that. Jesse would always do anything and everything M asked for.
And then one day...
Jesse's phone rang. He picked it up and heard M's voice on the other side.
"Hi, it's me. Listen, you gotta come here quickly. I... I think... I think I just killed a man."
Jesse hung up the phone and drove to M's apartment. He didn't ask much. He looked at the dead body on the floor in disbelief.
"OK, you have to help me get rid of the body.", M said, in a demanding tone of voice.
"We can't do that, it would be a crime.", Jesse said, almost absent-mindedly.
"Are you crazy? If we don't do it, the police will find out and arrest me. I can't go to jail!", M almost screamed.
Jesse was thinking. He was, after all, a very honorable person. He would never try to hide a murder. Everyone deserved a proper burial, he thought. Of course, he couldn't let M be arrested, that went without saying. So, he knew he had only one choice. He picked up the phone.
"Who are you calling?", M asked.
"The police."
"Are you INSANE?!!", M shrieked. "Hang up, NOW!!!"
"Just relax, honey.", Jesse said. "I'll take care of everything."
At that moment, the operator on the other side picked up.
"Yes?", Jesse asked. He gave the operator his first and last name. "I have to report a homicide. I accidentally killed a man."
The police didn't investigate much. After all, all they look for is a confession. And Jesse gave them one.
He was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment. He accepted his sentence happily, because he knew he was doing it for the one he loved.
Ten years have passed since then and Jesse is still serving his sentence. M doesn't come to visit. Jesse understands. After all, M has a life, and it would not be good for M to be noticed communicating with criminals.
He does miss M, but he has his memories to keep him company.
