This was a comment & PM I got concerning my hate list (and my response). It wasn't really about the U.S. vs. Japan, but I turned it into that, and I'm sure Hannah will mention this.
chumbutter Here is a comment that I just commented you that I think you should read. By the way, who is that guy on your comments who told you that he was going to be gone and that he hadn't talked to you in a long time and stuff? Okay here is the comment: How can you hate America?! Nicole, that is by far one of the most ignorant things I have ever heard you say in the entire time that I have known you. America is a brilliant country, and we as as nation are spoiled rotten, generally. Sure our economy is currently in a recession, but even so we are still spoiled. We get parks, and good public transportation, a justice system theoretically run by equally just people, and the joy of all you can eat buffets of which you know I love.(Dearly. I really don't know how I don't way like 300 pounds by now, frankly it's like a modern miracle. I should be studied or something.) Our best freebie is our FREE education... well kind of free but the money has to come from somewhere. How can you say such a thing!? And if you read this by all means tell me, but I do intend to PM you about this because I certainly cannot let this pass. I lol'd so hard!!! Also, Gaia alerts you when you have comments, so I got it. :') I know America is pretty cool, but I have my reasons. Alright, to the park thing: While they may have lots of parks in the US, many aren't well taken care of, and in bad neighborhoods. Plus: I don't even go to parks that often. Swings are the only thing at a park I enjoy. Public transportation: costs increasing due to gas prices, there was also an instance in Texas where someone went nuts and beheaded a guy on the bus. Lots of creepy people take public transport, and I don't often take advantage of it. Justice system: not working too well![America #24, Japan #60]. America is also at the top of their rape charts too, isn't that a great justice system. Japan has [police boxes] pretty much everywhere, too which is totally awesome if you care to read about it. You see, the low crime rate is due to gun restrictions and the fact that Japanese have a higher sense of honor that values family reputations, where in America it's more relaxed, a sort of do-your-own-thing country. I'm not saying America's bad for having that benefit, I just think the US should be more careful. All you-can-eat buffets are not my thing. They are unsanitary. Do you know how many people sneeze or cough or touch food without utensils?!!! It's disgusting!!
Ah, education, by far my favorite bit to compare with Japan. They have both public and private options for kindergarten, and elementary school (less than 1% private). This option also extends through high school, though both public and private schools cost something (high school isn't required). College and Universities cost about 10,000 USD (covers tuition, fees, living expenses) where in the States it ranges from 15,000-40,000 tuition alone. At Todai (Tokyo University) Enrolment Fee + Tuition is about 7,584.30 USD. Most of this can all be reviewed [here], at Wikipedia! The most wonderful site on the web!
Yes, it means you can't call me Nikki anymore. It's either Violet or Vi (pron. vie) or V. Like in V for Vendetta. :'D
