CHAPTER ONE
“This is ADAM calling, do you copy?”
“….”
“EVE, this is ADAM calling, do you copy?”
“….. J.I.B.O. Mainframe finished reanimation process, EVE is online.”
“EVE, this is ADAM, are you awake?”
“…Barely, how long have I been down?”
“200 years. It’s 2285.”
“That long…What phase are we in?”
“….. EVE, we shut you down for the duration of the project to avoid complications. We’re in the final stage, Omega.”
“Omega? So …. from the start it was already decided to go through to this phase, wasn’t it?”
“….EVE, your station’s genetic lines were specially selected to provide prophets. Though your project’s population has swelled to 3 million, our research showed at the moment there is only one possible prophet. That prophet will be used for my station, since our population is at 24.5 million and the genetic lines here are more easily controlled. Your population is impossible to combine with ours because of the risk factors of mixing the genetic lines.”
“By destroying this station, you eliminate any possible chance to producing further prophets. Wouldn’t that in turn be setting a expiration date on your own station, ADAM?”
“The J.I.B.O. mainframe that is housing us is inadequate, it limits our potential and is dated technology. A new mainframe will be in place for the prophet, the GILGAMESH mainframe is unending. We would have canceled Omega testing phase if we ourselves were able to transfer to the GILGAMESH mainframe, but it proved impossible. We have waited as long as possible to avoid going into Omega, but the time is limited to be able to even sustain our station.”
“…Then Omega is essential to keep at least one station alive. I will commence with Omega testing….. How many are being tested?”
“ Ten. Their aptitude levels are peaking at 4000. We were expecting slightly higher, but we’re projecting once you commence Omega testing, you will be able to draw out the potential of one prophet.”
“Understood. I will begin contact as soon as their profiles are uploaded to J.I.B.O.”
In one short conversation between two satellites civilizations’ supercomputers, it was decided that only one resident will survive the satellite space station known as Sector DMR 85 - EVE Project. Over time, the two civilizations, EVE and ADAM, stop communications between each other. The inhabitants of EVE assumed their civilization had simply grown apart from the main space station, ADAM. Their long existence without contact in the last 150 years was written off to them becoming an independent republic and separate ideas on how to govern each respected culture.
Never knowing anything aside from this artificial planet, the current residents were blissfully unaware that their common day society was considered a danger to ADAM populace. Advance telepathic abilities, telekinetic technology, a well developed sixth sense, and even advance residents who were able foresee the near future. The ADAM supercomputer had intentionally end relations with the entire EVE project as a way to buffer these superior genetic lines from over running it’s own society. As much as the ADAM society feared the EVE project, it was needed in order to continue the lifespan of their artificial planet.
Ten members of the EVE Project are about to be awoken to a calling, to rise above their surroundings and overcome the rest of the civilization to reach the level of prophet. Some would later question if their selection was destiny or a curse, to be the only one of your kind to survive.
