Right now I'm totally stuck.
Ummmm... I'm trying to write a monologue for Shahala's Monologue Night for my advisory. My goal is to make people cry. (aka, something TRAGIC!)
I dont have much right now. I have two ideas, but it's not easy to put them on paper.
One: The Mad Hatter. Sounds kinda fun to me, but I'm not sure how to make his story tragic enough to make people cry. See, I wrote this fanfiction in which he falls in love with the future Queen of Hearts, but she doesnt love him and he goes mad, etc etc etc etc. This is what I have down so far:
"It made me uneasy to speak of tragedy; not that I wasn't accustomed to it. My story was one of tragedy and lost love. It was one I rarely told, except for the occasional wanderer who had time to listen.
"I shouldn't even speak of Time. Where I lived, I had all the time in the world. It was always six o'clock, and I lived in a continuous tea party. Those details weren't particularly important to my story."

Two: I thought about this when I was looking at somebody's name on a piece of notebook paper... heh I get my ideas from the strangest places. I also got inspiration from Wong Fu Productions (a group of three college graduates who make really good shorts and films. A lot of them are funny, but there are some really deep or sad ones as well). The common idea in the monologue ideas I have is "heartbreak." Heartbreak is something I've experienced a lot, so it would be easy to write from experience. Anyway this is what I have so far:
"We live in a world with 6 billion other people. In one day, we could see someone and never see them again.
"I was lucky. When I saw him the first time, I thought nothing of it. He wasn't that significant at the time. When I saw him the second time, things were different."

So now, I need help from people. What can I do? I have to create a well-rounded character. I'm leaning more towards the second one, but I can do either one... hmmm...
