heh, much needed update sweatdrop
One more week, one more week, Tanya told herself. One more week and I'm done with this hell hole.
She stared with glazed eyes at the teacher in the front of the room who was attempting to discipline the chorus. Most of the other students had similar expressions.
Tanya was frustrated with this class long ago. The teacher was spineless and the students simply didn't care anymore. Tanya was quitting once the end of third term rolled around.
Apparently Mrs. Lenara had reached some kind of “compromise” with the students because she picked up her baton and the piano player started playing the intro.
I turn seventeen in a week and a half, she thought lazily.
Hmm...Cool.
Kan wandered around the school, looking for something to do. He didn't have a class this period since he was a senior, and they were allowed to have open periods if their class credits were completed.
Kan's feet took him near the art rooms.
Hmm...
He walked into the painting studio and looked around, appraising the room. He pulled some paints off the shelf and materials for a canvas. Once the fabric was stretched appropriately over the frame, he pulled his camera from a pocket in his backpack and perched himself on the counter.
Which one, which one? He wondered, scanning through his options in the camera.
Kan had a number of potted plants in his room, as well as a small garden outside his bedroom window. Though it was still cold outside, a few potted plants thrived in his room with the help of a grow lamp and blankets warding off any stray drafts.
Kan paused briefly at a few pictures, considering them, but eventually rejecting them. He settled on one of an orchid that had been rather sallow until recently. It had sprouted a few buds and one had actually bloomed a few days ago, finally revealing the color of its flowers, bright pink veined with a rich purple.
He sketched out the leaves and stem on the canvas, using the picture merely as a guide. Trying to keep the lines as natural looking as possible, he outlined the buds that grew along the stem until he reached the one blossom. Kan paused and examined the drawing. Maybe he should leave off the leaves and just have the stem and flowers.
“Hmm...” Kan chewed on the end of his pencil, lost in thought.
The bell rang, causing Kan to nearly fall off of his precarious perch between the counter top and the desk. He lowered his feet just in time to land on them, rather than his back.
Mustering his dignity, even though no one actually saw his little mishap, he stowed the canvas on a shelf and stuffed his things in his bag. He swung it over his shoulder and left the room for his next class, anatomy.
