Hey!! So today is Friday and I'm still studying. Last night was pretty good because I stayed up til 1am playing computer games for about 4 hours, something I haven't really done in almost a year!! I also found out while looking for some light bulbs (I probably would have known this before if I wasn't vertically challenged *facepalm*) that we have huge supply of cleaning supplies in our pantry/closet, despite the fact that my roommate doesn't know how to clean up. I'll probably do some light cleaning tomorrow.
Speaking of my roommate, I now have reason to believe that she is a gold digger. Pretty much all of the guys she has attempted to hook up/go out with are apparently filthy rich. I say attempted because to my knowledge she hasn't had any success, probably because she is basing these relationships on the wrong things. She also keeps running after this guy named James, the one she cooked dinner for and the one she got turned down by when she wanted to hook up with him. Apparently, recently she told him about her stint in the hospital and then got upset because he didn't care. She also says that she doesn't want to see or be around him any more but she keeps being in places where he is and she keeps hanging around people who know him too, not to mention that she does talk to him in order to get a reaction out of him. So lat night she went out on a date with this rich guy basically in the hopes that they would get together and she could show off her new man to James, but it turned out that this guy already had a girlfriend, which made her leave him alone (or so she says, but we'll have to see). I kinda feel sorry for this girl because she is trying so hard to find a man and nothing seems to be working for her. Although I think the main problem is that she is trying too hard and when girls do that they just come off as being desperate, which, in experience any way, actually tends to turn men off in the long run. In general I usually feel both sorry and frustrated at girls who always feel like they need a man in their lives. I mean, not only do the seem desperate (and most of them actually are), but it also goes against everything that women in the past have fought for and what women today are supposed to represent in relation to being independent and all, despite the fact that I don't agree with all that the women's independent movement advocates. And the worst part about it there are a lot of women like this (at least most of the ones I know any, and these come from different backgrounds, places, , socioeconomic groups, and races/ethnic groups, so I feel pretty comfortable generalizing)Things like are the reason that I believe that gender stereotypes/roles are still very strong in America (I won't say Western culture in general because I'm not that familiar with women's attitudes in Europe etc.).
