Having gone south from Maryland for the first time in my life, there's a few things I've noticed on the way down.
1. Holy. Freaking. Crap. That was the longest car ride of my life, and I get to do it all over again stare But it's not so bad, especially when I get to drive mrgreen Which brings me to my next novelty:
2. I-95. My new favorite road. The average speed limit? 70, that's right, 70! The best we get at home is 55, and that's only one highway. This thing runs from Virginia (at least thats where we got on) to Florida. At 70. Oh yes, I love it.
3. South of the Border, a.k.a. Pedroland. They've got rides, a leather shop, ice cream, fireworks, a diner, a motel... well hell, they have everything. All mexican-themed. Except for the random animal statues everywhere, I have no idea what those are about. But they're awesome, so who cares?
4. The trees. Around Maryland, we have regular looking trees, but down here the trees are fluffy. They remind me of something out of Jurassic Park.... any second now a velociraptor's gonna jump out and eat me.
Thats all the wonders of the south I've seen so far.... I'm sure there'll be more when I don't sleep through South Carolina rofl
EDIT:On The Way Back Up
The entire 70-some miles down there we didn't see a single Crackerbarrel... then, as we finally reach our destination, what's the first thing we see? An effing Crackerbarrel. (I've got something personal against Cb, long story). Even better was that our motel was next to one, then 8 suddenly appeared on the way home... irony.
There was a home made sign saying "Southern Buffet, and pointing into the woods. Lovely.
Around here, it's still chilly in the morning, but in Georgia? Holy crap, it's hot.
