maybe the cries of sorrow
made her wake from her doze,
maybe it was the hunger,
or rather, thirst, like she'd never known it before.
maybe she was pushed over the edge
by mistake, but was not able to get back
maybe love drove her too far,
so far, that she couldn't see the solid ground
under her feet, like she longed to,
maybe she walked there, by free will.
or blinded.
but no matter how she got there,
it was the point of no return,
even for her, so desperate for atonement.
she was born anew.
like a more intimidating person than before.
taking part in the carnage, she was lured into.
maybe, her heart had been petrified.
yes, it had.
so thus, she threw it away.
but even then, feelings tormented her.
and she kept living in the nightmare.
