I don't rememeber how we got here. All I know is that I look terrible, I'm hungry, and there are seven kids that are the exact same as me.
Don't get me wrong, we all don't look the exact same, we just feel the same. We all feel like we're going to pass out or start screaming if we can't leave soon. We don't know where we are.
It's a room. I think. It's not dark, but it's not light. It's like when the sun is setting, it's not dark, but it's not light. Like that...but all the time.
The room is obviously bullet proof, meaning it's also human proof. We've all tried ramming against the walls, but nothing's working. Nothing will ever work. We've tried and tried but we're just kids.
So we gave up and we're sitting in a circle sharing stories of how we all did something wrong. Of course, there was one perfect girl who never did anything wrong.
"Daddy tells me that I'm his little princess. The only bad thing I've ever done was take his car, but I put it back and it didn't have a scratch," She said. Her name's Kara or something prissy like that.
Obviously, the girl next to me knew this was a lie too. She snorted. "Daddy's little princess is a big pain in the a**. What'd ya'll really do?" She asked. That girl's name is Shania. I think.
Kara stuck her nose in the air. "I didn't do anything, I told you. Don't be a b***h and just accept that I'm perfect," She said.
"Girl, you don't wanna go there. Just shut your trap and I won't do it for you!" Shania said. There was something in her eyes that made me believe her.
"Look," The boy across from me, Derek, said. "this stupid argument isn't going to help anybody."
"Damn straight it won't. It ain't gonna do nothing," Shania growled.
"Then drop it," Derek deadpanned. "We need to think. How do we get out of here and who's Joker?"
Joker. That's the one who put us here. We keep hearing her laugh. She laughs a lot and says that we should pull out our cards and we'll think of something.
My stomach growls. I'm craving cake.
The shy girl next to Derek, Kristin, raised her hand a little. "Um...I think Joker...I think she's...a computer hollagram or something like that," She said quietly.
Shania looked like she was falling asleep. "Speak up!" She yelled.
Kristin's face turns red. "I-I...I think Joker's fake," She said louder. She was sitting indian style, staring at the ground.
The other guy sitting next to Kristin, James, looked thoughtful. "She could be onto something," He said. "I mean...if she's fake, that explains why we can't see her. Maybe there's just someone pulling a prank on us."
"Oh please," Kara said. She rolled her eyes. "You've got to be ******** kidding me. She can't be fake! If she was fake, we wouldn't be here! Man you guys are ******** dumbasses. You ********..."
Another guy, Henry, glared at Kara. "What the hell? Are you PMS'ing or something?" He asked.
Kara gritted her teeth. "Look you a*****e, I haven't had a cigarette in three effing days. I'm annoyed and you people are making it worse," She growled.
"So. Daddy's Little Princess has done somethin' wrong," Shania said. She had a smug look on her face.
"******** you." Kara folded her arms and looked away from us all.
The last person in our little group, Matt, sighed. "Look, can we just stop fighting?" He asked.
"Yeah," Derek agreed. "like I said, fighting isn't going to fix anything. We need to figure out how we can get out of here."
By then, I had stood up. I was walking along the walls, dragging my fingers across them. There had to be something, anything, that would be a clue as to how we got out of here. Right?
"Hey, Rashel, what are you doing?" James asked.
I looked over at him and saw that they were all staring at me. I hesitated. "I'm looking for a clue," I deadpanned and went back to walking.
"Clue? Girl, what are you talkin' about?" Shania asked.
"A clue," I repeated. "They do this thing all the time in scary movies and stuff. Like, there was always a certain brick in the wall that you had to push to activate it and then it went in and there was a secret room. Or on the bookcase and there was a certain book you pulled that made the bookcase move," I explained.
I could tell my words had meant something to most of them. They seemed to understand. We couldn't just sit here and starve; we had to do something besides try to bust down the walls.
Then, I felt something across my fingers. I stopped and rubbed my fingers over it again. A crack; an escape. I turned and faced it fully. I put my fingers over it. It was definitely a crack. I put eight of my ten fingers in the crack and pulled.
The sides gave away.
Of course, the noise gets everyone's attention, and they all get up and walk over to where I am.
"Back up!" I growled. "If there's something there, I don't want the rest of you getting hurt." I pulled some more until I had pretty much dug a hole in the wall.
"So it's a hole," Matt deadpanned. "Whoopee."
"You dumbass," Kara said. "that hole could lead to the outside world! Rachel could have found the way out!"
I rolled my eyes. "My name's Rashel," I said quietly.
Anyway, I was able to fit my fist into the hole and I pushed as I hard I could. I leaned forward, used my other hand to help, and pushed harder. My fist went through.
Once it went through. I pulled back and bent over. I looked into the hole.
"********!" I yelled and looked away. I turned around and groaned.
"What is it?" Derek asked.
I shook my head. I couldn't say it. It was...I just couldn't say it.
"Calm down. Hun, what was it?" Shania asked.
I felt tears sting my eyes. "It was...i-it was...a kid..." I replied. "a kid, like...four-years-old, maybe. He was...oh my God. He was...standing there, staring at the hole. He wasn't wearing a shirt and I could see his ribs and he was all...b-bloody and...oh my God..."
Kara the brave went up to the hole, bent and stared into it. I turned to look at her and there was a look of disgust on her face. She turned away from the hole and looked at me. "She's right," She said.
"Well...we can't just...just let him stay in there," Henry said. "Shouldn't we...try and help him?" He asked.
"Help him?!" Kara exclaimed. "What if it's a trick?! What if that kid is part of Joker's plan, huh?! No. We're not helping him." She folded her arms.
Kristin spoke up. "I-I agree. That boy could be...tr-trouble," She said.
"Lets take a vote," James said. "raise your hand if we should help the kid."
Derek, me, Shania, and James raised our hands. Which means, Kara, Kristine, Matt, and Henry didn't want to. That's four against four.
James anime sweat-dropped. "Alright, we'll rock-paper-scissors," He said.
"You're ******** kidding me," Kara deadpanned. "we're going to rock-paper-scissors for our LIFE?!" She asked.
James blinked. "Do you have a better idea?" He asked.
"Pick a number, one through ten," I said. I bit my lip and found a number. 5.
James hesitated. "8," He said.
"1," Kara said.
I smiled a little. "The number was 5," I said.
"You cheated!" Kara exclaimed.
I sighed. "Fine." I turned to Shania. "The number is 9," I whispered very quietly. Shania nodded. "Pick again."
"8," James said.
Kara hesitated. "6."
"The number is 9," I said.
"You cheated again!" Kara yelled.
Shania shook her head. "Nuh-uh! She told me the number was 9. The number was still 9. It will always be 9!" She exclaimed. "now get that through your prissy a** white head of yours. You lost."
"Okay then. Who's going to go through that hole and save him?" Matt asked.
s**t.
