Do you think it's right to take the work of someone else and claim it as ones own - without asking permission or giving credits?
I sincerely hope not.
I don't appreciate art theft, you know.
When I browsed through the Gaian art arena I discovered a picture (Naruto fanart) that I've seen on deviantart.com before.
The pic showed the character Kakuzu and an original character, the title on deviantart.com is "Kakuzu and Eri".
The user who claimed it as her own changed the title ("Kakuzu and Yuzu" wink and the oc's haircolour. (Such an obvious rip-off. rolleyes )
That's it.
Nothing more.
Neither a reference image nor any credit. And I found three more altered pics in her gallery which didn't belong to her.
I thought "How on earth can a person be that stupid to think he/she can get away with things like this without someone noticing the cheap pic-copying? This should be reported!"
But then I thought again. "Perhaps this user knows Akatoki (= the original artist) and asked her for permission but simply forgot to mention." So I said to myself "I shouldn't b***h around before I know the facts. Otherwise I will be the one who gets reported for slander."
Fortunately I happen to have a deviantart account mrgreen so that I could ask the original artist. I wrote to her and a few hours later I received an answer.
Ironically Akatoki is a Gaian herself but her message clearly stated: art theft.
I found that reason enough for reporting the stolen pictures but first I wrote a comment under every stolen pic I could find and an additional one in the gallery.
"I strongly advise you to remove the four pictures you used from "Deviant Art" before the Gaia staff does. [...]"
I even checked every now and then if any of my posts had been deleted in the meantime. In that case I simply would have written another one again. And again and again and again.
Persistent little bugger, aren't I? 4laugh
Three days after reporting I received a message here on Gaia from the Omni Moderator Lunastick:
"Your report has been processed.
Thank you for your report!"
"Oh dear" I thought. "That was fast. biggrin "
I. HATE. ART. THEFT.
