Kyrre: Dealing with Public Accuations: The Final Test, part 3
As the murmurings finally calmed down, more questions came in rapid succession from kitsune citizens.
"If she is only a quarter kitsune, how can she know enough about us to act on our behalf?"
Kyrre answered this one. "She has been taught, and she will continue to learn. She is dedicated to us, and we will be dedicated to her, and advise her."
"But-" another kitsune asked, "what life experiences has she had that could possibly ready her for this kind of task?"
Kyrre looked to Dragon for help on this one. They'd been so wrapped up in telling Princess Rose about kitsunes that they hadn't had any time to find out much about her.
The questions continued, even after this answer.
"What allegiances has she to her other heritages?"
Kyrre winced at the loaded question; demons were a problem with kitsunes, and Princess Rose was part demon. He looked at Dragon, pleadingly.
"What about her fulfilling her duties to... maintaining the bloodline?" asked another kitsune, a young female, who blushed and ran right after asking. Still, the question had to be asked.
"Well," Kyrre began, "Princess Rose has been informed of this custom. Like everything else she's learned of us, she respects it, and will seek to do right by us on this matter. It... is to be expected, of course, that she be given time to make any... necessary... decisions." Kyrre couldn't help but blush. They were straight out asking if Princess Rose was going to prefer a kitsune mate! He wanted to flee, but held his ground. He was glad when the next question came.
"How long has she known about her heritage, and just now come to seek us out?"
Kyrre was happy to answer. "I am not certain of how long she has known-" he looked at Dragon, but continued, "but it was I who sought for her. I knew of her father's existence, and was looking for him. He was the truest bloodline, and I was led to Princess Rose. She informed me of her father's death by demon hands, and I told her of our situation. She was more than eager to come, before it was revealed that she might have rights and obligations here. She wanted to be part of us."
For a little while, murmurings ran from this. Many heads were nodding, and when Kyrre looked at the Council, they seemed pleased that Kyrre and Dragon had answered so many questions for them. After all, if Kyrre and Dragon failed to answer for Princess Rose, the Council had to answer. And they tended to become frustrated at having to answer public accusations. Their frustration was never a good thing.
