Rose, and the Debate Over the Truth
Rose spit out the water she'd been drinking as the Green Shade Guards carried Wolf and Dai in. While she didn't know Dai at all, Wolf, she recognized. As Dragon went up to intercept them, and pulled at the collars, Rose began to feel like she was choking. It was mental, of course. But did Wolf's collar have to be that same damned red color as hers had been?
She glanced at Kyrre meaningfully, which was good, since he was looking at her questioningly. Rose pointed to her neck. Kyrre seemed to understand, as his face soured in disgust. He turned back toward Estefan and the "prisoners" and growled.
Then Wolf tried to rat out Estefan. At least, Rose assumed that he was blaming Estefan. And the fact that Estefan's hand, conveniently hiding in his jacket twitched, Rose could only assume he'd electrocuted them, as Wolf, the other person and Dragon all started spazzing out, and Rose could actually see the electricity running between the three of them.
When it stopped, Rose, very pale, went to Dragon quickly and quietly. Dragon asked for Nissa.
Rose nodded at one of the Guards who had hesitated. He ran off to get Nissa. But Rose wasn't about to wait for this.
The thing that they hadn't realized, messing with Rose and her family, was that doing so was a grave mistake. While Rose knew she could not kill Estefan (ever, apparently, because of his royal blood and laws about royalty killing royalty), she also knew that the potion that bound her as a kitsune had worn off very, very early. She and Dragon had spoken about it last night, even. Dragon had supposed that since the kitsunes were probably only prepared for a demon/kitsune and possibly that mixed with human bloodline, the potion had not been nearly strong enough. But fairies were not weak, and angels....
Rose stood over Dragon, and turned to face Estefan. She glared at him, and then looked back up at the Council.
"I realize this trial is nowhere near over. And that currently, despite being a confirmed Princess, I can not make judgement here." Rose stated clearly and firmly. She wasn't certain people outside the stadium wouldn't hear her- but that was just as well.
"However, I feel the need to make the truth known."
With this Rose started... glowing white. She'd never really gotten into studying enough of her angelic heritage. Actually, that one was still on her list. However, this one thing, she knew. Angels were adept at finding the truth, and proclaiming it.
"These two friends of my former guardian are not guilty of the crime they are accused of. The collars that bind their necks are a controling device that is the product of a kitsune-demon collaboration, lead by Lord Estefan. This is proved by the remote he holds. Lord Estefan arranged the attack to denounce my Right to be Seen and Heard by the people and the Council. To thereby usurp the throne, and become the Kitsune Kingdom's Unrightful ruler, who would then use this power to enforce his tyranical plans with the help of the demon slavers. This I know to be TRUE. This I confirm TRUE by my DIVINE power." During her statement, Rose slowly shifted. Her kitsune whiskers, ears, tail, and skin receeded and vanished. She slowly lifted into the air after sprouting wings. And her outfit morphed into a medly of whites. Finally, her forehead gem turned blue. And as she finished what she had to say, she landed on the ground again. Not next to Dragon this time, but right in front of her throne.
"So." Rose began in her normal voice, regarding the Council and everyone present. "You have the option of questioning all parties involved yourself. Or save yourself the trouble, since you have the Divine Truth at your disposal."
As Rose waited for a moment, she remembered seeing all the Shamans around stiffen shortly after Dragon's request for Nissa. She doubted it was Nissa- probably one of Dragon's allies giving up un-magical pretenses was all. Thankfully, Rose's own display seemed to redirect a good portion of their attention- though not all.
Philli, the Head of the Council if there was one (there was not supposed to be, but he certainly acted as such), stood.
"Guards, please take hold of Lord Estefan. Remove from him any devices that might incriminate him. Remove the collars from the other prisoners. They will have a chance to speak for themselves, as will Lord Estefan." Philli paused.
Sillis, who had been generous to Rose before, added to that statement. "While Princess Rose makes an unarguable case, it is still the Kitsune way to hold trials, so that those who are guilty of any crime or attempted crime may speak out in their defense. We will hear them now."
Rose nodded to the Council. "I would have it no other way." She mentally berated herself for ignoring the democratic trial process the kitsunes preferred. But it really did save time- and made sure Estefan couldn't ditch the evidence against him.
The Guards did as they were told, and soon enough, Lord Estefan was held in shackles by two kitsunes, while only three held Wolf and Dai, unshackled and uncollared. It was at this moment that the Guards brought in Nissa.
Rose watched and listened, and even caught Kyrre's eye for a moment. Only a moment, since he looked away. Rose quickly realized that she was still in her... divine-ish attire, and felt a bit embaressed. But it was too late to back out of that for now.
Hirow spoke up next, as everyone was under control. "Those known as Wolf and Dai. Please state your cases. And please remember that... well, I suppose we have the truth at our disposal as it stands. Still. Customs... You will speak only of those things you are certain of. Begin."
