Rose, Being Crowned the Kitsune Queen

Before she even felt like she could breathe (though happy that she finally felt like she looked somewhat normal again), Rose listened somewhat to the rushed instructions random kitsunes were giving her. All she could really hang onto at this point was that Trella, as the Royal Shaman, would be performing the ceremony, and that there would be a party right after. From what she'd heard, this party would be one of the few she would be allowed to actually enjoy (non-political) for a few years. She really wanted a drink. Or five.

The ceremony started, as the stadium was overfull. Kitsunes stood along the high grass slopes above the last row of benches to watch. There were more than ten thousand in attendance, not including Rose's personal guests, who were seated right in front. The Fifth Leaf Den, all sporting white sashes with somewhat hastily drawn (each by their own wearer) blue roses on the center. Apparently, it was assumed this would be Rose's personal sigil.

Curled hunting horns played a royal fanfare, and finally, in front of everyone including the Council and the Royal Shaman, Princess Rose was led out onto the stage.

She tried not to stare- there were so many expectant faces. She smiled and nodded once, and then went and stood in front of Trella. She struggled to remember just how painfully long the ceremony was supposed to be.

Trella smiled at Princess Rose, and began to speak.

"According to the Will of the Kitsunes of Gaia, I, Royal Shaman Trella LightWood, by the Power of Earth, hereby Crown you, Rose Blueaecid, Queen of the Kitsunes." And quite simply, with that, she placed a crown on Rose's head.

Rose scrambled. Wasn't there more to it than that?

Trella curtseid, bending pretty much in half. Rose curtseid back, but nodded her head instead. Trella straightened, and then someone handed her a wooden staff with a red smooth gem in it.

"And with the new responsibility the Kitsunes of Gaia have bestowed upon you, I give you the Staff of Power, that you might carry out your Laws, and stand upright for Justice."

Rose took the dark wood staff, and was about to nod again, when Trella turned to the crowd.

"By the Grace, I present you your Kitsune Queen. All hail Queen Rose!" Trella shouted.

Rose blushed furiously- but thankfully, the soft fuzz on her face didn't blush very well. Cheers rang out throughout the theatre. Rose felt Trella's breath near her ear. "This is where you ask them all to celebrate and drink with you in your Palace, to show good faith." Rose nodded. She was glad this was so brief. She hadn't thought it would be! She'd have to ask... well, someone not Trella about it later.

"Good Kitsunes of Southern Gaia, and friends. I am humbled and gracious for the honor you bestow upon me. This is a good day- so let us celebrate it. The Palace doors are open to all tonight!" Rose said, in a tone that seemed regal and actually almost surprised herself. Perhaps she was born for this after all?

No sooner had she said this that people began to go off in all different directions. People up in the grass high-section hurried to get to the Palace proper, as did most of the Gaians. But, as Rose remembered having been warned, quite a few (over a hundred) were heading forward to give first blessings. Traditionally, the Coronation Party was one of the only times common kitsunes were allowed in the palace, and therefore political manuevering was at a minimum, with all the noise and drinking. But while still on the stage, Queen Rose was held aloft enough for the nobles to try to make their own first impressions... and many seemed to rush towards doing so.

Rose stepped down off the stadium, hoping to stop the nobles, but also to get near her old friends before chaos insued.

"Not much of a show, I suppose. But I hear the party will be good. It sounds like they have some special liquor they acquired that has been boasted as being able to make dragons drunk. And other mythical creatures, of course." She winked.

Low-fire fireworks began to go off throughout the City. Below the level of the canopy, safe bursts of condensed foxfire in different colors and making different shapes were being set off for everyone to see.

"Guess there's a bit of a show, then." Rose said, smiling. But seeing the nobles getting dangerously close, she tried to usher her friends into the Palace. "Quick, before the politicians catch us!" Rose laughed and smiled, actually enjoying the moment- something she hadn't thought she would.
