Third entry too "The Old House on the Hill"
"Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!"
I awoke and quickly sat up to find my cousin also awake and confused. I quickly stood up and ran out of my room. It was still dark outside. I quickly turned my attention to my wailing mother screaming to the top of her lungs. "Mom!" I yelled at her. "Mom, what's wrong?" I asked as I grabbed her arms.
"He's gone. Your brother is missing." said my mother as tears ran down her cheeks.
"What?!" I said as I looked around the landscape, when my eyes fell on the house. My eyes where fixated on it. I couldn't take them off of it for some reason. I quickly ran back into my room and grabbed a flashlight, my jacket, and I slipped on my pink bunny slippers. I ran out of the room and was suddenly stopped by Samantha.
“Where are you going?” she asked in a worried tone. “I’m going up to the house.” I said as I passed her. “Then I’m coming with you.” she said as she was about to go inside the room.
“No, you stay with my mom. I’ll go and get him lickity split.”
“Fine!” she said as she stood there. I quickly started running again and calling out his name. I quickly found myself at the foot of the hill and looking up at the sky and at the top of the hill. I looked back down at the foot of the hill and started to climb up it on my hands and knees. “Julias!” I kept screaming out as I dragged myself up the hill. Every muscle in my body ached from the previous exercise and my mind felt a little hazy as I kept climbing up. Soon I was on the top of the hill and at the foot of the house. It looked very old and I could see the stairs were rotten and eaten up by termites. I quickly stood up and settled my right foot on the first step of the stairs. I slowly placed my weight onto it and could hear it creaking as I placed more of my weight onto it. I finally placed my other foot onto the step and could feel it sinking down, but still maintaining its shape. I quickly gained confidence from this and slowly kept climbing it until I came all the way to the top. I looked back down at the stairs and could feel myself acting strangely calm. I turned back around and suddenly felt the flashlight in my hands. I looked at it with some confusion, but quickly regained my sense and turned it on. The bright light fell upon a bright red door with a golden knocker that came up to my face. I pointed my flashlight around it and could see no flaw on it. The paint wasn’t cracked, unlike the rest of the house. It didn’t make any sense. “Why isn’t this doors paint all cracked? Maybe someone painted it, but who would do that?” I asked myself. I stared at it a little longer and soon felt that maybe Julias was in there and if not, then if some one was there, then maybe they could help me. I was about to open it, but quickly felt like it might be rude to just barge in there. I quickly grabbed the knocker and swung it hard onto the door. BAM!! The door shook a little and for an instant it looked like it might collapse on top of me. It kept its balance and it soon swung open. I looked inside and saw a fire place and a little hearth rug on the floor. I slowly and cautiously walked inside. The room that I entered almost looked like a living room. The fire felt nice especially since it was freezing outside and it somehow filled the room with a nice warm glow. I looked up, expecting to see the sky, but only saw wood beams. I looked around a little closer and started noticing some other details of the room like the small rocking chair in the corner and a little writing desk that was pushed back against the wall. Right by the writing desk was a door frame and through it was darkness, almost like it led to a whole other world. Suddenly I heard the floorboards creaking under some ones weight and they weren’t mine. They seemed to be coming from the abyss of the door frame. My heart started to thump in my chest and I could feel words wanting to spill out of my mouth. “Julias?” I called out.
Suddenly the creaking sounds stopped. I could feel my heart racing and I almost felt relieved as a shadow started to erupt from the darkness. It soon walked into the room and I quickly realized that this person couldn’t possibly be my little brother. For one thing, he was at least six feet tall and he had rich black hair that couldn’t possibly be my little brothers. He looked like he might be seventeen or eighteen. He wore a pair of black pants and a buttoned up black shirt. My attention quickly came to his face, which looked very surprised, and soon onto his eyes. They were a deep dark brown with a spark of yellow around the iris and the pupil. “How did you get in here?” he asked in a demanding and almost angry voice.
“The door was unlocked and I did knock.” I said as I felt my heart starting to beat faster.
“You were able to see the door?” he asked with a confused look on his face.
“Yes, I was.” I said, starting to feel a little confused as well. “You see I’m looking for my little brother and I think that he might be here.”
“That’s impossible.” he said as he took a step closer to me. I noticed his step and I soon started feeling uncomfortable. I took a step back and glanced over at the door.
“You shouldn’t be here.” he said as in a threatening tone.
“Ya, well you probably shouldn’t be here either.” I said as my anger suddenly arose.
“You have to get out of here.” he said as he walked closer to me.
“Not until I know for sure that my brother isn’t in here.” I said as I walked up to him and with my anger flaring up my cheeks. When he first looked at me, he looked at me as if I was just a baby, a sapling, a baby bird who didn’t know how to fly and now he looked at me with something else in his face. ‘Could it possibly be admiration?’ I thought to myself as I stared at him. Instead of looking at me as a baby bird, he now looked at me as if I was a mother hen.
“I will look for him myself, but you must leave, before the sun rises.” he said as he grabbed my arm and took me to the door. “Promise?” I said as I suddenly felt like I was being cheated.
“Yes, but please just go.” he said as he placed my hand on the knob.
I turned the knob and opened the door.
“Damn it.” said my companion as we both suddenly saw the door frame filled up with bricks. I looked at the brick wall with an expression filled with surprise and confusion. I turned my head towards him and saw the horrified look on his face.
“She knows you’re here.” he said as he grabbed my wrist.
“Who are you talking about?” I asked with a confused expression on my face.
“My mistress knows that you’re here. I need to hide you.” he said as he started to run towards one of the pitch black door frames.
“I don’t understand.” I said as we went through the door frame. When we went through I expected to see a mass of darkness and nothing else, so I was very surprised to find myself in another room. It looked like a hall way and there was a staircase going up. It looked familiar and yet I knew I never been there before. My companion quickly pulled me to the side of the staircase and opened a small cubby. He quickly pushed me inside. “You need to stay here, until I come back. All right.” he said with a distressed look on his face. I nodded my head and soon he quickly closed and locked the door. I quickly felt around the little cubby and soon found a lighter that I could use for some light. I flicked it on and soon I was bathed in fire light. I looked around and I soon realized that this was a bedroom and a big one. I quickly stood up and I found myself turning around and looking at a small door that seemed insignificant. “How can they fit an entire bedroom into a broom cupboard?” I heard myself wondering. Then it suddenly clicked in my mind. I had been telling stories about magical worlds and about people being trapped inside strange and wonderful houses, and yet it didn’t cross my mind until now that I was one of those people. I was trapped inside a magic house.
