Prince Endymion was reborn on Earth from the Silver Millennium as Chiba Mamoru. When Mamoru was quite young, his parents were killed in a car accident, leaving him orphan. He lost all his previous memories, and didn't know who or what he was. He lives alone in an apartment in Juubangai and attends the Azabu Institute of Technology.
However, he started having constant dreams about a beautiful princess pleading him to find the Ginzuishou. Mamoru thought maybe if he did, she would tell him who he really was.
His alter ego is Tuxedo Kamen, a man wearing a tuxedo and a mask. When Sailor Moon and her friends were in danger, he could sense it and would go to rescue them with a rose. Mamoru didn't know this, but soon realises he is in fact Tuxedo Kamen. The princess in his dream was Princess Serenity, who in the present is Usagi.
