"Carol! Wait!"
A distant yell fills the street as Carol ran toward the park.
She turns around and sees a boy in baggy pants with an XL Hollister shirt.
"Carol. Look. I'm really sorry" He reached for Carol's arm. Carol screams. "Leave me alone!" He replies. "But you hadn't been returning any of my calls! And I was worried about you.." "Oh yeah? Then if you're so worried about me, why are you hanging around that disgusting girl?! Huh Derrek?" Derrek lowered his head. "T-that was just a coincidence meeting her there." Carol's eyes began to water and drips of salty tears fell from her cheeks. "C-Carol? Are we cool?" Carol's hands balled into a fist. "You take this relationship a joke, don't you? You don't even care that I LOVE YOU!" Derrek was surprised to hear that. Too surprised that he couldn't speak. Before he could even take another breath, she said. "I knew it. It is true." "Wait, Carol.." His voice sounded as guilty as ever. Strangely, he didn't go after her, he just watched her walk away.
The Next Day
Those two pretended like they were strangers in the hallway.
While Derrek was playing his pranks on teachers, Carol was studying with her friends. Suddenly, one of her friends changed the topic for a while. She said. "Hey Carol. What's with you and Derrek today? You guys seem like you don't even know each other." Carol just replied back. "Oh nothing's wrong. I just thought he needed more space and time with his friends is all" She wanted to deny the pain of saying that it was over between them. Since, Carol still loved him.
Next Period
The teacher slams the books on the desk and the room grew silent. The teacher spoke in a very raspy voice. "Hpmm. Class, we have a new student. I'd like you to welcome him arou-" Before she could finish, Derrek responded. "Seriously? This kid is the one that beat up the seniors?! No way anyone would be around with his scrawny-a**. " Carol stood up from her seat. "I would Derrek." "Tssk." Derrek tried to hide the worry in his eyes with his punky scowl. "Detention! Both of you!" The teacher exclaimed.
