I'm not a religious person. That is, I don't believe in God or any of the other religions out there. There's no real reason for it, it's just how I was raised. Please don't try to convert me, I've heard them all and am perfectly fine as I am.
I don't believe in religion, but I still do believe. In what, well I don't know. Just in general. I believe that life can't be completely shitty, that there is still good out there.
These last few months haven't been great for me. Been struggling financially as I have finished my degree and was in that awful period where I have no job. Savings started to disappear.
Was applying for jobs, but no real luck. It looked like I'd have to forget my degree and go do something else, just to get some income. I know I'm a little stubborn, but I really didn't want to go packing shelves after working hard for 3 years to get this degree. I wanted to use it.
Then came the perfect job. This job is down in Wellington, and it is awesome. I went down there to have an interview, and the office was nice, the people were lovely. I thought the interview went really well, and it is doing something I love.
So fingers crossed there.
Anyway, yesterday was graduation. I was actually looking forward to it, since I'd be seeing my friends again from school. Lots of photos taken (if you are friends with me on facebook you'll see 'em), all dressed up in the gown, hood and trencher. My group was last, since we were a degree (the rest were certificates and diplomas). So we went up, and it was awesome (and scary). Graduated.
After we'd all been up, we had to wait on the side of the stage as there were some awards to be given out. Four actually, best final project, best networking student, best software development student and the best overall grades. So fingers crossed.
The first award was for best software student, and to my surprise I won it. Seriously, I swore backstage when my name was read out. Networking went to a friend, and Project went to my other friend (who is awesome). The best overall grades though went to me again, which was another shocker. I also won the award for best project poster last year, meaning overall my degree had 5 awards and I snagged 3 of them.
What's funny is I was seriously broke. I mean I couldn't afford to pay the $20 for my web bill this month. But the grades prize gave me $500 as well, which is just so awesome. The software prize came with this awesome wireless mouse.
So all in all, it was a great day. But it didn't reach awesome until I got home. I check my emails, and there's a reply from the guy I interviewed with. They offered me the job! Seriously, I have a job now smile Start next month, on the 12th of April.
Great day turned into awesome day. But it's things like that make me believe. Not in God, or anything like that, but just in life. You can work had and get a reward, even if it feels the universe is dumping down on you.
Life is most definitely good.
