Philadelphia Experiment
Ocean dunes swallow even steel eventually;
oases can only last so long
against tides of soul and sand.
Eldritch, breakers crest the hull
and reflections fail to enlighten space between
what the past designed,
and what heat-ripple resonance
insinuates.
Like quicksand, wills converge
amid greenshift and vague recall, entranced
and beckoning in envenomed reflex loops.
Failed existence lashes itself to consciousness,
begging a second rescue
and a second belief in long forgotten myths.
But for the way illusions swallow even steel,
second failure would enshrine nothingness
in their place.
Between ivory sea and electron degeneracy,
gods' gifts settle like arsenic into veins.
Only plague fills the spring
where Alcubierre wakes;
only flesh bridges wave equations
where the Eldridge breaks space.
