“Well I have to say this is quite a nice surprise Zack, how have you been?”- Paul asked me while I helped him close the store.
“I have been good sir can’t complain”- I answered him while sweeping the floor.
“That’s goods news, how is your brother and Master O.?”- He asked nonchalantly.
I paused for a second and stared at the window for a second then I replied. “Master O. is fine and my brother is ok too.”- Why did I say that? “We are just exhausted every night after training, Master O. makes us work really hard.”- I muster a quick smile as I turned to answer him. “How have you guys been? How is business?”
“We have been ok thankfully as for the stores well that’s a different story.”- He continued to clean the counter looking nostalgic
“Are you having trouble with the stores?”- I asked him leaning on the counter. “We are not the only ones Zack”- he answered. “Truthfully, every one in town as been suffering one way or another, ever since the mysterious disappearances on the main roads.”
“What disappearances? How come I never heard any of this? What are the guards doing?”- I started to head for the door when Tina appeared from the back door. “You’re leaving so soon? I thought you where staying for diner?”- She said, I turned around and saw her sad expression when her dad said, “He is just locking the front door dear, aren’t you Zack?” – I look at Tina and nodded with a smile, she smiled back and waved us in “Good diner is ready.”- We fallowed her inside and sat on the table, there where 4 plates of soup served already and a basket of fresh baked bread we said grace and started to enjoy diner, I was glad to see Tina’s smile again when I saw it I realized what Master O. meant when he said that he didn’t trained us to be guard dogs, he trained us to protect the people we hold dearest to. When I got back to the arena to pick up something I left behind I bumped into my brother apparently he was practicing late, I went to get my things and he spoke to me. “Did you have a nice diner?”- I turned around and said. “Where you fallowing me?”
“Please why would I fallow you of all people, I was walking by the alley and I saw you and Tina thru the window cleaning the dishes.”- He said sitting down on the bench beside me. “Maybe I’ll stop by to have diner tomorrow too.”- I started to head to the door of the arena and said. “Do what you want I have more important things to take care off instead of arguing with you.”
“What are you talking about?”- He asked annoyed. “I’m surprised that you didn’t know that people are disappearing outside of town and that the guards can’t do much about it”- I said at the door, he got up quickly with a stunned face. “Are you serious? What are you planning to do about it?”
“I’m going to master’s house and tell him about it after that I’m heading out to stop whatever or whoever is doing this.”- I said leaving the arena.
