Porcelain
I am a porcelain doll,
Fragile and destined to be broken.
That is why I sit on his lonely shelf,
Never to be touched or held.
Just here to collect dust and give spiders a home,
To age and fade slowly.
Never to be given a name or see a smiling face,
Never know love like other dolls do.
The Little girl that lives here asks her mother to play with me,
She simply says no and walks away.
However the girl stays, looks at me and smiles.
If this is the closest I'll get to being loved,I'll take it.
I'm cold and lifeless be that girls gaze is warm.
I like it and for some reason,
I feel like I should smile too.
