Melanie: I know, but he's still vastly negligent and slightl abusive.
Emily: But there are some redeeming qualities...and memories...
Melanie: I know, Lady Emily. I was there.

(Setting: 25 years ago)
Little Emily: *is drawing doodles on her notebook*
*A knock on the door is heard, then the creaking of it opening*
Areux: *slightly sticks his head in through the door* Emily, am I bothering you?
Emily: *looks up and shakes her head*
Areux: *walks in, arms behind back* I'm aware this is your 8th birthday. You're growing up rather rapidly, don't you think?
Emily: ...*thinks, looks up for a moment befor elooking back at her daddy, shrugs*
Areux: Well, I brought you something. I picked it up while I was away...I thought you'd might need a companion, something small and...well, meek.
Emily: ..?
Areux: *pulls a box from behind his back, kneels down and gives it to her* Happy Birthday, Emily.
Emily: *ears perk up, smiles at her daddy, opening the box*
Little black kitten: :3 *sticks head out of box, bats at her hair*
Emily: ^_^ *takes the kitty out of the box, strokes it's head and cuddles it*
Black kitten: *purrs and rubs head against her face*
Areux: I thought you'd like it. It's better to have someone or something close while I'm away so often...*smiles slightly, is happy his daughter is happy*
Emily: *looks up at her father and jumps on him, huggling him too*
Areux: Eh...*hesitates for a moment before hugging her back* You're welcome.
Emily: Thank you, daddy.
Areux: *smiles a little wider* You're welcome...sweetheart...
Emily: *is happy*
Another flashback!
(Setting: 24 years ago)
Areux: What do you mean she's missing?!
Melanie: She was in her room for the longest time but she's gone now! The windows were open and...and...oh Master Areux, I'm so sorry! *cries*
Areux: You're suppose to be protecting my daughter! What were you doing?!
Melanie: I was tending to Master Anton at the time, his instructor had come over with a few issues, I didn't know anyone broke in.
Areux: *growls a little under his breath* I'm going to go look for her. Melanie, stay here with Anton, I'm going to let my contacts know to watch out for her...*goes to leave*
Melanie: Yes, sir.. : <
Areux: *is running through Halloween Town* I should be more intentive to her...Why wasn't I home?! Dammit! Please...please be safe, Emily...
Flashback forever!
(Setting: 28 years ago)
Lucille: Alright, now what you do is you slip this little knot we made in the yarn into this loop in the needle. Then you do this...then this...and then pull. See? Your first stitch!
Emily: Mommy...*frowns and pulls up a big messy, tangled, ball of yarn*
Lucille: Oh..uh...that's alright, why don't we try to teach you something else easier, hm?
Emily: Like what, mommy?
Lucille: Hmm what would you want to learn?
Emily: Ummmm...I wanna make a cake! For daddy!
Lucille: Hehehe, alright, we'll make a cake for daddy. Let's go into the kitchen, sweetie. *picks her up and carries her into the kitchen*
(Half an hour later..)
Areux: *comes through the door, looking around* Lucille? Emily? *looks around some more* Anton? *hears some laughter coming from the kitchen* Eh?
Lucille: Keep the flour in the bowl, not on you, Emi. Heehee, Emily, there's white stuff all over your face, silly girl.
Emily: *crosses her eyes to look at the now white tip of her nose* Ah!
Lucille: *wipes it away and huggles her daughter* Silly little girl. Hehe.
Areux: *walks into the kitchen to see the big ol' mess* We've been busy, have we?
Emily: Daddy! *throws arms up in the air, runs up to him only to get picked up and thrown into the air, then caught by him* Haha!
Areux: Look at you. All messy and smell like cookie dough.
Emily: We're makin' a cake, daddy, not cookies! And mommy says I'm silly.
Areux: Well apparently you get it from..well, no, you don't get it from me. *eyes Lucille*
Lucille: *hands on hips* Hey, that's not nice. Haha..
Areux: *smiles at Lucille while he's holding his daughter* Where's Anton?
Lucille: He's off with Reese somewhere. I swear those two are inseparable...sooner or later we'll be having to keep a close eye on her and him...
Areux: Heh, I'm sure.
Emily: Whatcha mean, mama? *tilts head*
Lucille: ^_^;;
