i cry alone
in the dark forgotten corner
where walls of the closet
close in and give me comfort
they hold me
they keep me safe
i feel them
as though they have hands

the cool air
feels like your mouth
brushing against my skin
it makes me grow warm
and when i turn
i see nothing but darkness

i feel alone
so isolated
in my haven
i cry out
my screams are muffled
by the walls that keep
you from reaching me

i no longer
hear your voice
all i hear is my own
echoing in my mind
the feeling of the walls
close in on me again

it's holding me again
i sigh and lean into no one's touch
the surface of the cold wall
give me comfort
i stopped crying

i smiled slightly
opened the door
light shines on me
i see you sitting there
waiting for me
i get scared

"you weren't here
you never came
i needed you
you never answered"

you come over to me
you hold me
i grow cold
new tears beginning to flow

"i was here
the whole time
you just shut me out"
