Description - Lorelei is a beauty. Thick, wavy black hair, deep green eyes, a full figured body... Many women would kill for Lorelei's looks. Of course, they would also maintain them; Lorelei doesn't care a whit about her appearance, only following basic hygiene and nothing else. Her hair is hacked short and in a perpetual ponytail/bun, her skin is tan and rough, and she has lines on her face from her eternal frowns and scowls. She regularly binds her breasts so she can shoot her bow without worry. She does have muscles, though they are usually hidden by her clothing.
Clothing - Lorelei tends towards practical clothing. She does have an eye for fashion, and even when she's at her most practical, it shows.
Personality - Lorelei is, at heart, a nice woman. That kindness has been buried by years of seeing the darker side of things, and Lorelei is now a bitter, cynical woman with a sharp word ready for any situation. Considering that she's an accomplished spellcaster, you may want to watch out. Lorelei does not trust easily, does not laugh easily, doesn't really do anything light-hearted easily. She's closed off and serious, with a single-minded goal driving her life. She respect people who are willing to work for what they want, and resents those who won't try.
When Lorelei is older (after she meets Richard), she softens up. While she's still sarcastic and serious, she's more willing to smile and laugh. She's mellowed out a bit, but there's an edge there. Lorelei is more than willing to act on her threats of violence should anything happen to her husband or daughter. She doesn't trust ANYONE but Richard and herself around Ninette, and she worries herself sick when Ninette goes on one of her longer 'adventures'. Lorelei is very protective of her family.
Character History - Lorelei was born and raised as a Poliari, which is one of the more powerful Dracon families. From the start she showed great promise as a mage, excelling in her apprenticeship. Lorelei was and is a magical prodigy. Her mask covers only a quarter of her face, her staff is one the most elaborate in recent history, and she was let out into the world at the tender age of 13, feeling certain in her abilities and drive.
That all changed the night she got ambushed by bandits.
It happened fast, too fast for Lorelei to react. She was bound and taken to the nearest black market. Her horns were sawed off, and she was left for dead in a ditch outside the town. For most Dracon, that would be the end of it. Losing one's horns is a death sentence for a Dracon, either by blood loss, infection, or loss of their magic. Lorelei didn't die. She got lucky; an old couple had found her and taken her in, caring for her until she was better. On the one hand, Lorelei was grateful to them; she didn't want to die. On the other, she was now exiled from the only home she'd ever known. A Dracon without horns was considered worse than trash, and the only way they could get back into society was by getting adopted or marrying into another family.
Lorelei knew all of this, and she despaired. She didn't eat, she didn't drink, she was listless. For a time. Eventually, as she healed, her despair turned to rage. Rage towards her home, rage towards herself, and rage towards the men who took her horns and denied her of her livelihood. Lorelei vowed on her fourteenth birthday to hunt down each and every one of them and make them pay.
Fast forward 23 and some odd years, and Lorelei is nearly done with her vow. She has hunted down each bandit in the band, exacting her revenge on them one by one. She only has the last of them, the leader of the band, left. During her hunt for this man, she meets Richard, a pathetic Dracon with next to no magical power to his name. Sparks fly, and over the course of finding the last man, the pair fall in love. Fast forward seven more years, and the pair are married with a young daughter to dote over.
Abilities
Dracon Magic - Lorelei's magic is diminished by her lack of horns, but she has great proficiency in curses, elemental magic, and basic healing.
Lorelei is also a good shot be it physical or magical, and handy with a knife in close quarters.
Equipment - A butterfly mask that covers her right eye, and a staff (see avi refs)
Companions - Lorelei has a trusty paint horse named Helios.
