Right, so, I've decided I'm going to be keeping a virtual Gaia journal of my 4 month experience with the Disney College Program at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. I want to do this for both my personal use and so that I don't have to repeat things over and over for my many Gaia friends who usually don't talk to each other.
Day One: Check In Day!
Holy crap, what a whirlwind! My mom, who flew down with me, drove me to the main apartment complex, Vista Way for my check in. And the next couple of hours were spent picking my apartment size and complex, getting my photo ID taken, finding out how much paycheck I would be losing to rent each week, getting my paycheck VISA card thing, learning where I was working, learning my training schedule, learning when my traditions class was, getting fingerprinted, finding out the shoes I need for my job locations, talking about taking classes, filling out a bunch of forms and most likely signing over my soul, but not necessarily in the order listed above. Awesome.
Anyways, I originally wanted a 2 bed/2 bath at Chatham Square, but the only rooms available at Chatham were 4 bed and I was like HELL NO!!! So it was between a 2 bedroom at Vista Lay Way or Patterson Court, so I chose Patterson which is nice and quiet and works well for me. It's also the nicest with the best closets (I could literally dance in my closet), but it doesn't have a bus stop, so I have to walk like 7 minutes to Chatham, which is fine when it's not raining....speaking of rain, it decided to DOWNPOUR. LIKE, LEGIT BUCKETS OF RAIN DUMPING ON MY HEAD WHEN I WAS MOVING IN!!! It was insane, I was totally drenched. But yeah, my apartment is on the third and top floor, and between that and the walk to the bus stop, and hauling groceries and s**t on a bus home, I'm gonna be a freaking body builder by the time I go home. Regardless, I have three room mates; Erin who I actually share a room with, and then Lindsey and Lizzie who share the other room. I have a feeling I won't see Erin much since she has lots of friends from school here, but that's alright. I don't mind so much, I'm sure I'll meet lots of other friends and have the other two.
So, I spent the rest of the day moving in stuff, and then my mom took me on a huge a** shopping trip to get my groceries and stuff we didn't get the day before. Then after we brought all that back, we went out to dinner and then, among sobbing from her and lots of hugging, said goodbye. I literally unpacked EVERYTHING as well, and I am currently the only person totally unpacked. Victory!
Oh, and I'm working merchandise at the ESPN Wide World of Sports. By far like the LAST place I wanted to work, but everyone says it's really fun, you'll be busy with spring training coming, the hours are good, and I'll probably meet a really hot, tall athlete! Here's hoping! <3
Day 2: Lull, What am I gonna do today?!
This day was spent mostly sleeping in due to pure exhaustion from day one. But eventually Lindsey, Lizzie and I gathered enough energy to make our way to Walmart, where I got some more small things and they a lot of shopping. That was a total adventure with all that s**t on the bus. But yeah, later that night we met up with a guy Lindsey knows from her school and his two friends, and we all ate dinner at House of Blues at Downtown Disney, where we got a 20% discount (huzzah!) and then wandered around aimlessly for a few hours before heading home.
Day 3: Traditions!
